Question about interior carpets
Just wondering...
I have a 26M, and no interior carpets. (wife wants them)
Are the 2 pcs of carpet hemmed around the edges?
Is the smaller piece just rectangular, or does it go in towards the head?
Are they glued down ...?
And lastly does anyone have a close up of the color?
Regards
Andrew

Here is a photo of my replacements on my 2005
They’re hemmed, and not glued down.
Don’t be afraid to be adventurous. Grrrrr

Re: Question about interior carpets
Don't glue them.
You can put down sticky velcro strips, and sew the mating velcro onto the carpet, if you are worried about them moving around. A well-cut carpet won't move much tho.
Last trip out we had some lively sailing one day, and a bottle of olive oil ended up on the floor. Well some leaked onto the carpet without us noticing, and that oiled our feet up nice, and then oiled up the steps. Funny, but also dangerous. We were very glad to be able to roll up the carpet and stash it. It's still in my garage waiting on my decision to chuck it or clean it.

Re: Question about interior carpets
We have a 26X and have replaced our carpets a couple of times. We find that, without taking some measures, the carpet pieces can slip when stepped on awkwardly, which happens in a boat. I installed a pair of snaps up front, on the narrow piece in the aisleway which runs in front of the table. This secured the carpet in place, but the back could still slip and hump up. We ended up buying some rubbery carpet padding from the carpet store where we bought our carpet. I was able to glue it down to the underside of the carpet with contact cement. This has held up just fine, and the carpet padding acts as a great skid preventer for the carpet, with the added benefit of providing a more cushy walking surface. One caution: apply the contact cement carefully, so that it only coats the surface which touches the carpet. The padding we got is a waffle pattern, and if the cement is applied too liberally, it can seep through the voids in the pad, and this can get messy on the underlying fiberglass non skid floor, even after it has dried.

Re: Question about interior carpets
Ahh.. yes..
I have seen those "anti slip carpet mats"
They are like a tacky rubber, some are even perforated.
Should I be looking at just getting nice "home" carpet, .. and not worrying how long it lasts..
or should I get Marine Grade?
I am leaning to home (good quality) and using some InstaBind and Latex based glue sticks (as per instructions) to bind it myself.
Then (as suggested) some form of Anti Slip stuff under it.
If it gets "funky".. was not $$ so I will just throw out after a few seasons and replace.
?Comments? Suggestions? Advice?
Thanks in Advance

Re: Question about interior carpets
The carpet I used was some remnant I picked up. I thought leopard would jazz things up. I had it cut and edged to finished it off. Marine carpet is not necessary.

Re: Question about interior carpets
I do like the pattern in your carpet.. very cool...
Here they want $2 - $2.50/linear foot to bind the carpet..Some places even have a min # of feet...
Thinking of getting InstaBind.. and doing it myself..
