'88 26D Rudder Assembley

Post by scrawley »

I need help with the "kickup rudder assembly" on my boat. I've attached a pic showing the 1/4" line setup but I don't think it's correct. I've searched for an illustration showing the correct rigging but can't find anything. Can someone provide a photo for me to mimic?

Mine doesn't have the shiv and fairlead system that yours has. My line just goes through a hold in the rudder (toward the trailing edge).

You should also have a wire attached to the leading edge that comes up through the rudder post to hold the rudder down. Attach with a bungee so it will give way if you hit.

That is not the stock setup for the rudder.

I see there is a plate on the back of the rudder assembly to stiffen the assembly. That is on the list of things to do over the winter.
