1985 Mac 24 poptop--gas strut mod

Has anyone out there in Mac land fitted their back-breaking poptop with gas struts. If so, what size (force, extended length) did you use? How did you mount them? Where did you source the struts?

Any help will be appreciated by my back!

use a search engine, such as Duckduckgo, or google. Put in Site:macgregorsailors.com pop top gas strut. You will get a bunch of answers. The search engine of this site only goes back a short time due to a server problem.

First of all this thread should read "1985 Mac 25..." not 24.
