Boat Cover for Winter

Greetings .... I'm tired of replacing my silver and brown tarp from Lowe's every year and I guess I'm ready for some canvas or sunbrella

Any advice and suppliers you could suggest ??

I’m not sure what a silver and brown tarp is.

I have a heavy duty silver tarp that has lasted several years through East Coast winters. I believe it has one more year left in it. A good tarp should last for a few years.

Some on this site have posted how by using PVC piping and a large tarp, they create a tent like structure. I actually did that for a couple of years, but then said “forget it”.

Really, look into a good heavy duty tarp.

I’m sure someone will post how they use PVC piping.

I purchased a billboard from one of those online sites and put the holes and grommets with a press in it..... after all that work I haven't even used it .... and honestly I'm not sure if it feels any thicker than a heavy duty tarp from home depot.... they are much bigger though so maybe you could double it up

+1 to the billboard as a cover.

UV and wind are the killers down here and the billboard tarp I used is definitely UV protected and seems to be stronger than a normal tarp. We put it printed side down so the boat didn't look like a Cadbury chocolate ad.

I purchased a cover from sailorstailor 5 years ago, and I am wery happy with it.
Expensive? yes but after 5 years in eastern Canada with winds up to 100km/hr on a regular basis, and
sometimes lots of snow, it is still on good condition only 4-5 snaps are damaged and easily repaired.
My boat is covered for almost 10 months a year due to work comitements

There are many grades of tarps. I bought the mid grade tarp and it lasted a few years. Probably would have lasted longer had I protected it from the "sharp" stuff like the mast fittings and stanchions.

The PVC pipes work well and we get lots of snow. Just make sure you have enough of them and they are secured well.

It is a lot of work to prepare the skeleton of PVC and tie it down. So I rented an "indoor" storage shed.

I looked on the site shown and it showed the cover with the mast still standing. You store yours with the mast down I'm sure ?
