The original main I received with my boat is is sad shape. New sails are planned for later in the year but I would like to continue sailing through the winter. Searching locally didnt turn up anything promising.
I have modified a hobie main that I found in storage under our cabin. To make it fit I removed material from the bottom of the sail and restitched the foot. The roach/leech of the fully battened Hobie 16 main was a problem. I had to build a back stay flicker to allow it to clear when changing tacks. I constructed this from a piece of aluminum square tube and one of those orange fiberglass drive way rods from Lowes.
No idea how this sail will perform on the mac but I have nothing to lose since it was almost free. Only expenses were the rod, thread, and time spent sewing. Pictures are just after it was washed and run up to dry.
