Lower Chesapeake 2017 Labor Day Weekend Sail

Post by vkmaynard »

Compromise and Storm Walker(Chaser) are going to randevu in Northern Norfolk/Virginia Beach for a lower Chesapeake 3 day sail Friday night Sep 1.

No sail plan. Maybe sail to New Point then to Cape Charles and back. Weather depending.

Any other takers?

We will be up in northern Chesapeake near annapolis just south of the bay bridge. We plan to sail south and see the sites. Maybe down to the mouth of the Potomac.

Victor,

So tempting.

The Admiral is an educator, and is back to school on Tuesday. Too hectic the few days before school starts.

This will be the first time sailing since early June for me. I spent the better part of the summer upgrading the boat. When I bought it in March, she was completely stock. Since then I've installed the following
- New Jib
- lines to rear kit
- upgraded boom vang
- boom vang to rear kit
-furler line kit
-a/c
- generator with mount
-5000 btu Marine AC system
-vhf w/ mast antenna
-fusion radio with 4 Kenwood speakers
-rebuilt BG50 carb
-pressurised water system for sink
- upgraded DC panels
-165 watt solar panel
-New cockpit cushions
- jib sock and main cover
-Raymarine A67 with 4D C-maps
-mast anchor light
-raymarine EV100-sail Autopilot
- New bulkhead
- New Rochna Anchor
-solar exhaust fan
-kuma 215 grill
And many others...

I plan to put up before and after pics. I'll finish the gelcoat restoration this fall .

The nice thing about this area is the extended sailing season. I plan to sail well into October.

Thats my backyard. Let me know if you have any parking or anchorage questions. We no longer have the :macx: though. I am currently docked in Littlecreek Norfolk and returning to a different marina in Va beach at the end of the weekend. We will be out sailing friday through monday anchoring each night. Friday during the day looks bumpy with North winds. We will probably sail friday night to Hampton after work, sat undecided winds look light. Sunday night in kings creek cape charles, since forecast is 20-30 west and will make a fast ride over. Then an early departure back across for labor day picnics monday.

An Iroquois catamaran. Fun little niche boat that generally gets hated on by keelboaters more than my :macx: ever did :D. There are only a few in the US & no forums so I didn't want to leave the mac boards

We're happy to have you on the boards still, seapup. You have a wealth of knowledge and useful advice.
And you're an engineer.
