Re: What beats it?
In it's prior life, my
spent almost all of her time on a mooring....and I bought it, 7 years old, with under 200 hours on the motor, and with the area below looking almost new...the poor boat was still lightly used, despite being on a mooring. To me, the thing about owning a Mac is that you can do it all. If I want to put it on a mooring, in a marina, mast-up on the trailer, motoring down the river or a canal in trawler mode, or sitting in my storage area, I can. If I want to head to new cruising grounds, I can.
win, win, win, win, win....(did I get enough "win"s in there?)

Re: What beats it?
I know I've said this before, but the only trailerable sailboat I would probably look at other than a MacGregor would be the newer versions of the Telstar 28 trimaran.
We just had a couple guys at the marina where we retrieved come over and look at our S while the ballast water was draining out. They started asking questions when they realized I was draining the ballast. They were working on a smaller Westerly in the yard, and talked about how much more room ours had inside (although not standing height like theirs). The Westerly had more storage, but they couldn't believe how light the Mac was on the trailer.
Love these boats.

I have looked at the Telstar as well. Nice boat, but I think you give up too much internal space.

He is indeed a troll. It takes one to know one.
Everyone hates trolls - I should know.
Trolls purposely do things to make people hate them to see what they say. Sometimes it's the only way to find out what people are really thinking - sometimes people don't even know what they really think deep inside until a 'troll' comes along and makes them blurt it out in a fit of anger.
It's a common skill used by Psychologists, Prosecutors, Trolls, and Commercial Hotel Real Estate salesman.
That's why everyone hates them -
(Ask me what degree I got in College).

In our area, we don't hate Trolls. North of us (in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, ie: UP) Trolls are "people below the (Mackinaw) bridge, ie: Lower Michigan people. They come to the UP to spend $$ on vacation.

Noticed a Zephyr 33 listed on ebay, had not heard of them before. Interesting with a drop keel and outboard.

Re: What beats it?
Okay, so I guess that beats MAC?
It's 33 feet and needs semi to launch it. MMmmmm . .
I think as far as trailer boats go - THAT boat belongs in a slip.

Re: What beats it?
I would classify that as a BOAT on a TRAILER not a trailer boat, down under we classify boats as trailer sailors and trailerable yachts, this is definitely in the second category, meaning it can be towed however due to being oversize and long setup times certainly not the sort of thing one takes down the ramp and rigs for a couple of hour sail in the afternoonSeapup wrote:Noticed a Zephyr 33 listed on ebay, had not heard of them before.
