I am led to understand that sticking with the same brand and type of bottom paint for that last coat is usually a good idea, unless you want to sand her down and start from scratch. (Hint: You don't.) Accordingly, before too much time passes, you might do well to ask the previous owner to tell you exactly what's on there now. With a bit of luck they may even have a bit, or even a lot of it remaining in the can in their garage for a little touching up here and there at the end of the season.md80max wrote:The bottom of the boat already had bottom paint on it and was in good condition, not new but good condition. Thank you for the suggestion!
As for really cleaning her up, top to bottom, which will REALLY make you feel great about her, if you do not already have a pressure washer, then I simply cannot recommend Harbor Freight's little cheapo electric one highly enough. It's just the right amount of cheap and crappy and weak, so you simply can't do any harm. Just don't tug it around by the hose, or the plastic filter/inlet hose thing might break. Swab her down with a cup of Wisk laundry detergent in a bucket of water, give her a good blasting, wax her down, and she'll look brand new. Those pressure washers frequently go on sale for less than 80 bucks American.
