Yep I agree! These clamps are made from Bunnings Ply wood.

We have 2 big chain hardware stores here and they are just copies of each other, they stock exactly the same stuff, some times from different brands but the same stuff, one cant pop down the store and get a bit of teak or any of the better woods, onl rubbish pine, in fact they dont even stock hardwood that hasnt been fully dress and marked up through the roof for the privilege and thats only in one type of wood.
Oh Man, kcmj - where the hull were you two weeks ago when I was trying to figure out this problem?? I created this heavy mahogany pieces of crap that have a long 5 foot piece of half round PVC to hold the middle of the thing and now I look here after I did all that work and you come up with a brilliant idea that is about ten thousands times better than the piece of crap I created!!!
Only 2 posts and he has already earned the best mod award! ! !
Wow.
Now I need to completely start all over again and do this the right way: ie: the kcmj way.

Way to go - brilliant! ! !
It's true!
I'm even too embarrassed to send a picture of the monstrosity I created to accomplish the same task these little kcmj brackets accomplish.
Sure are a lot of good inventions coming from that area of Australia - does that include NZ and the West End? I really need to visit that place someday but I'm so clueless about that whole Continent.
More good ideas coming from over there than anywhere else it seems lately, maybe someday I will figure out a way to get over there. (I wonder if 'boat' is up to the crossing?)
How long would it take if I motored the whole way at WOT?

They are just freaking brilliant, aren't they? I've been struggling to come up with a design for a year now and always end up scrapping it. That's why I'm asking for a template/pattern- they're so stinking perfect that I don't want to half-a$$ my own interpretation of them!
Yeah, I agree - if this trend continues I'm gonna move to Australia, (first I gotta go to Google Maps and figure out where it is). All I know about the place is: "wallaby" and some guy named 'Dundee'. Do they let Americans in over there? I notice that more and more places are not letting Americans in any more - looks like Turkey is next - they don't like Americans anymore either.
No need for Google maps Boat, your in California so just head South West, you cant miss Australia, big place, lots of nasty things that like to eat you, and protected by 1000 miles of reef off its North East Coast.
Given that you could keep up 5knts 24 hours a day we will see you in about 6 weeks, and dont forget to pack plenty of fuel yachts often have to motor for a couple of days to get through the doldrums
Okay, how much fuel do I need? It sounds like it's a lot further away than Catalina - will I need to pack a passport?
Let's see - Google maps says 7100 miles - looks like the closest jumping off point is a place called 'Fraser Island' - is that where all those dangerous animals are? Those are not the wallaby's, right?
7000 miles is a lot of miles - How much gas is that?
No passport needed , just tell the Navy when they come out to board you that your a refugee, in fact dont have any documents that way they cant prove your not
Fraser Island has lots of nastys, you just cant see them, anyway Fraser Island is just a sand Island and not very nice for boats unless you can get around the Western side and hide in its lee.
Lets see with a fuel consumption of 1/2 gallon per hour you may need around 400 gallons if the winds are not good to you
Hmmmm, sounds like fuel might be a problem . . . I can only get 24 gallons in the cockpit and I guess I can carry a couple of 5 gallon Jerry cans but that's still leaves me short by about . . . . well, I guess I will need a lot of wind but still - 6 weeks is too long - I can't get the time off work unless I quit, (I think they might re-hire me when I get back but there's no guarantee).
So, pondering my options I don't think i need to worry about the animals just yet, I guess i would just cross that bridge when I come to it - still other problems to solve that seem bigger, like, how much macaroni and cheese is that? 6 weeks?
I dunno, I don't think 'boat' can make the trip unless you guys have some better ideas. I sort of was hoping to see the mods in person.
Hmm OK just a thought, maybe just cut BOAT in half, add another 10 feet (Im sure you could find an old boat to take it form), then cut it down the middle and add another 2 feet to the beam, that might assist in the 2 minute noodle and Cheesy Mac cartage capacity.
In all seriousness much smaller boats have completed Atlantic and Pacific crossings, but they would be either far better sailors than I will ever be or just so stupid that they dont know the risks involved.
...wooden clamps to go around the mast to keep everything in place when raising and lowering the mast and also when in transit...
While I can appreciate the execution of design and craftsmanship, for all who favor this mod... what do you see as the benefit of this application over simply tying everything to the mast?
Hi All
Continuing on from the mast clamps. Here is a modified version of the clamps to make an extension that supports the furler that always sticks out at the front. Just email me if you want a template or the .tap files to CNC your own.
