Jibsheet travelers on M22

Post by kd7jz »

I have a Macgregor 22 that this is my second season sailing. The tracks for jib sheet travelers/fairleads are missing the cars. I am not a performance sailor, just a weekender with the family kind of guy. Two questions: how important are these? The fixed fairleads are still in place. Can anyone point me to a source or part if I want to put them in place?

Thanks!!

They are used to adjust head sail shape, even more so on a genoa, but yes you can sail without them. Judy B can explain the importance best, I typically set mine for what I believe the wind will be for the day and don't move them until the next trip. To replace them you will need to measure the track width. Blue Water Yachts, Amazon, and West Marine are just a few sources.
