Does it look normal?

Post by dxg4848 »

I bought new axle and hubs separately. When I installed starboard hub I noticed that torsion axle is bent. I know many of you did this mod. Was your axle like that? Port side is straight. I hope it is supposed to straighten up under load, and may be it is supposed to appear bent when new? Please let me know if your new axle came in bent on one end, or was it straight on both ends? Thank you!

Haven't done the mod, but the fact that the port axle is straight would be enough for me to call the manufacturer and send them the pics. Definitely doesn't look correct.

I did this mod a year ago. Mine were not bent.

Twice as much here as in the US :)

Trojan sell DURATORQUE torsion axles through Supercheap or you can get Transtyle rubber torsion axles from Melbourne. I have not looked at duel axles but a single 2000kg was going to run me over $2k with brakes a few years back, I ended up refurbishing the old one for a couple of hundred and it is still going :)

Lucky me! Will contact manufacturer on Tuesday. What strange is there is no sign of damage anywhere. Axle is brand new and was shipped to my work commercial address laying flat on pallet. Hub went on nicely. It is not easy to bend shaft this big without any signs of damage. Just doesn't make sense.

I bought axle and two hubs from SIX ROBBLEES INC. Axle is $287.33 and hubs are $107.37 each.

Probably the rubber material misaligned rather than the shaft bent, but crooked is not good.

Axle was bent and I had to exchange it. It was about 4 weeks lead time again. New axle came in on Friday perfectly straight and I had it installed over the weekend. All holes lined up when I bolted it.

Just wanted to share my way of setting new hubs angle to match original axle:
