2010 26m any ideas how to sell her?

Post by flyboy26m »

Wondering if anyone had any advice for selling a 2010 Macgregor 26m with a 50 HP Yamaha 4 stroke.

I only had her in the water 5 or 6 times before I got into a motorcycle accident. It has sat in my driveway with a cover on it ever since. Motor probably has no more than 10 hours on it and the sails and cushions are like new. I took the cover off last week during a warm spell. and could not believe how dirty it was even with a cover on it. I will have to wash her before posting pics. I had just installed those nice stern seats before the accident and still have to hook the safety lines and helm seat up. I also have a brand new auto pilot to install. It also has a stereo, 12 volt freezer, gps and natures head composting head. What the best way to sell her, all ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks, Flyboy26m

Sorry to see you selling her, but hopefully another sailor will enjoy her.

We just purchased our 26M from the MacGregor site. Also looked on Craigslist. We ended up finding one from over 1100 miles away, and then worried about how to get her home. A friend told us about UShip.com, and we ended up with about 5 bids. We were able to check out the histories of the various shippers, and chose the one that best fit our needs. (Not always the cheapest!) Just thought I'd mention this in case you find a potential buyer not near you that doesn't have any idea of how to get the boat home.

I used UShip when I bought my 97 Mac X from Colorado and I was very pleased with the results. 8)

Thanks for the Uship recommendations.

When I posted it on eBay a Uship shipping calculator comes up so this must be very popular now. I also posted it on this site in the classifieds section. I will throw it on Craigslist as well. Thanks for the help everyone. Somebody is going to get a great deal on a almost new boat. I hope they enjoy her as much as I did.

I'm very sorry to hear about your accident flyboy. I had no idea prior, as I've read your posts; I don't know how long it's been. I used to think that any bike accident that you survive & can talk about is a good one. But when you mentioned that you don't think you can "handle the reins" with your Mac... Wow :|

Again, my condolences...

Just a note from your friendly moderator. Forum members cannot advertise or negotiate sales of boats here in the forum. This policy prevents the forum from getting cluttered with ads and such. If you wish to use our Classifieds section to sell your boat, great - you'll be helping to support the forum with your posting. If you want to use Craigslist or eBay or some other sales venue, great. If you want to use private email or PM's, great. But in any event, there can't be any open sales promotion or sales negotiations here in the forums. Thanks, folks!

Exactly as I mentioned in my last post, The boat is listed here in the classifieds and on ebay. I have several folks coming out this weekend to look at her. Thanks to everyone for your advice and hope you all have a good sailing season.

Thanks Gazmm,

Very slow process,It gets a little better each month but at this pace it will take a few more years before I might feel safe single handling the boat in less than normal conditions. Who knows maybe a tattoo might still be in my future at some point. For now I will enjoy reading about you guys adventures.
