our first 26M!! anyone else in Hawaii?
We did it! We bought a 2006 26M. She's a fixer upper (believe it or not, being so new) but we're crazy excited. Are there any other Mac owners in Hawai'i here?

If you'll pay my way and place to stay I can be there

Congratulations! We bought a 2005
this past summer and are crazy excited. We owned a 22Venture back when we lived in the Florida Keys (20 years ago) and always knew we'd get another Mac some day.

Ha! Lee, you mean pineapple pizza?
We have never owned a water ballasted boat. Had a Cal 2-25 and a San Juan 23 (which we still have at my mother in laws house in Washington state, and sailed her exactly 1 time). My husband had been jonesing for a Mac for about 5-6 years and any of our other boat friends' response was how it doesn't motor well or sail well because you can't get that performance out of a hybrid, blah, blah, blah... We noticed all the haters were non-Mac owners, though, even online. Can't wait to get out on the water to show them how much fun they can (hopefully) be! ...well, once she is sea worthy again.

Interested in hearing the story behind the boat. Why was it a fixer upper and who had it? How did it get to Hawaii?
Best of luck with it

I left Hawaii one year ago and brought my boat with me to Washington D.C. There is another guy there who has a blue hull (Much slower) on Kaneohe MCB who helped me set everything up. He is on the forum every now and then. Here is a link to his profile:

The Hawaii videos are mine that are on YouTube. I would sail Kaneohe, Wiakiki, and West Side.

How much was it to ship your's to the mainland? Did she fit in a container?
mahaloz!!
Re: our first 26M!! anyone else in Hawaii?
Aloha mai kakou! My wife and I just shipped one of the last
's to Kauai and are begining to learn to operate her. We launch from the boat ramp at Nawiliwili Harbor. Once we get more experience with UNISON we hope to make the passage across to 'Oahu on some flat water day this summer, eventually visiting all of the other major islands.
Where are you based and where do you launch from? We'd love to meet up with you if/when one of us sails to the other's island.
Mālama pono,
Rick

Aloha Rick!
Nice to know there is another kama'aina out here with a Mac (Tattoo). We're based out of Ewa Beach and are in the process of getting a slip by our house (so much easier than launching every time we want to head out for an after work sunset sail). If we didn't get the slip, we would launch from the Phoenician.
We have a LOT of work to do before we can even put her in the water, let alone sail interisland but it's definitely on our to do list. We would love to meet up sometime - keep us posted on your exploits (are you on the facebook mac page?) and one day hopefully we'll raft up!
Malama pono,
Leah

Finally getting around to working on her. The PO's inherited the boat from a stepfather in Texas. They weren't sailors, nor did they give a sh~t about the boat. They shipped her to Hawaii and used her as a party barge and trashed the hull out of her. Drilled holes all over the place to make a floating stereo, basically. We pulled the daggerboard the other day and it is smashed as well. Just overall abuse by people who had no interest in sailing, got a free sailboat and ruined it. Bizarre....
