Hi Geoff & Rocky
You guy,s had great weather this wk-end especially today the winds were up good , as seen by ur video
As much as I did want to join u guy,s this wk-end @ Lagoon City L. Simcoe my daughter arrived @ CFB Borden on Friday from CFB Esquimalt Victoria BC , I have not seen her since Xmas so got to spend all day today "Sun" with her
, she is here until Sunday 30th so as Base Borden is only 10 mins up the road from me I will get to spend some more time with her before she returns to CFB Esquimalt & family reunion planned for Fri. my other daughter & grand daughter
Ideally it would have been great if we all could have joined u guys for a great wk-end on the water as we always have a great time together

Re: Fantastic day sailing in rough seas
Hmmmm. Seems like a fine sailing day.
From the title I expected twenty foot waves but then I remembered the site I was on...BAD FOX! BAD!
But seriously mines on the trailer now and that brought back memories of the past summer.
Seems like you might be going just as fast and with less heel if you had in your 2nd reef. If you have your board all the way down, pulling it up half way, then pointing up a few degrees to offset the leeway will add speed too.
In those conditions I would have the hank on jib, two reefs, board half or more up, outboard leg dragging just a bit. Main sheet eased slightly more, and the traveler to leeward.
Not to say that I'm any better sailor then anyone else though.

Ray
Hank on jib
1st reef on main, the one the stock sail does not have
So it would be half way between full and the factory reef point

Rocky was behind me with his faster blue M
We both had hank on jibs
I was doing 5.5 to 5.8 on avg 1st reef heeling 30, winds were 15 g 25
He was on the second reef and doing 5.0. to 5.2 avg
He just got real small
You can see him in my vid when I look behind me
Just kept getting smaller
