Always sail within your safety level of experience. Don't let anyone push you past your comfort level... not even a pirate like me!

... and heck yea a Full Enclosure ROCKS!

Well have studying and watching and wondering and the fact that Saturday is our anniversary I have decided to cancel my slips for this weekend. I think the Wilmington dock was under someones credit card and didn't want to risk it. I will drive down to see ya all and give you the oppurtunity to harasss my decision :? Take care

We are waiting and watching also for boat launch.

We will be there any way to visit our son and his fiance and hang out with them on Friday night downtown for friends graduation.

Sailing Saturday looks fun! East at 10-15 knts. May launch early Saturday if Friday rain and small craft advisory are happening.

No matter what, cleaning and prepping Compromise tomorrow. Chilling/carbonating our latest home-brew Kolsh beer for our on-board mini kegerator. Also working on some last minute machining.

Southport Marina called me and wanted to know if I was still planning to show due to impending weather. They say 5 have cancelled already - 2 for sures and 3 TBD (I'm a TBD). We finished all the preparations yesterday and were planning on leaving for the trip down to NC tomorrow morning after rush hour died down. I'm sorry to say that we are cancelling due to the forecast. The Admiral is not interested in a 6 hour drive to and from in the rain and the threat of weather for the duration.

We are changing our destination to the West River on the Chesapeake with stops in St. Michaels, Annapolis and a cruise through the Napps Narrows. Forecast is great! Plenty of options if anybody else is interested. We are also easily swayed to another destination with a favorable forecast if somebody else has found a good alternative on the east coast or southern lakes.

We were looking forward to seeing all the Mac's and mods and learning from the experiences of the others. We are planning a two week trip to the Keys in June and this was to be our shakedown cruise.

Hopefully we will see the group at the NC Pirate Sail in September. If you haven't attended this event and met Eric (as a pirate), your missing out.

No need to wait until tomorrow. Forecast getting worse. Syzygy is a no-go. Hate to do it because we like will miss the people most. Looks bad in Charleston too so I guess we'll be home this weekend. I'll call the city docks and Southport marina in the morning.

I've cancelled Friday at Southport, though I'm happy to meet anyone for dinner there or in Wilmington.

I'm going to remain hopeful that Saturday gets better but if the entire even is cancelled, I'll try to get out SundAy morning before I have to leave town again.

This stinks, I've been looking forward to this for months.

If it's cancelled, can it be rescheduled?

I really hate to do this but the weather is leaving me no choice. :x I will reschedule this to a later date. I will have to get up with the dockmasters at Southport and Wilmington to find out when the next available weekend will be and will post it then. We are still planning on going down to see if we can salvage any of the weekend but will not expect anyone else unless you want to. We may just go to Wilmington and put in since it will be closer to home and can still sail some. If we get a break in the rain may even have a place we can do a fire and cook out on the beach.

We'll be doing the Erie Canal and Lake Champlain in June and maybe into July.

Wow that is sad. Was really looking forward to the event and meeting everyone.

I've had 6 days off since last October including Thanksgiving, New Years, and Christmas.

We'll try again.

If anyone is still going to be in the Wilmington area anyway, there's no reason we can't get together one night and maybe start planning the next trip?

You guys should figure out how to send that wet over here, to Lake Tahoe.
Boy, can we use the water. I'm going to scout all the way around the lake
in the next few days, looking for the best place to launch.

We just had a little rain early this morning. Not very much, but every
little bit helps...

It's still on!!! Just postponed 5/29-31/2015

I have rescheduled and made arrangements at both the Southport Marina and Wilmington City Docks. You will need to call them and make your reservations just like before. The itinerary will be the same:
Launch Southport and stay Friday night at the Southport Marina. Have dinner somewhere in Southport
Saturday, sail up Cape Fear River to Wilmington City Docks and have dinner at Paddy's Hollow which is walking distance (1-2 blocks) from the docks.
Return sail back down Cape Fear River to Southport marina and ramp. Recover and say our goodbyes.

Please pm me and let me know if you can make it so I can give them an estimate as to how many will be attending. 8)

This is not a sanctioned event and every captain is responsible for his/her own vessel and crew.
