Macgregor 19 search
How can I search this site for posts about the 19. It says too common when I try. But when searching manually it doesn't seem common at all.

Now that I have some money set aside for one They all are too far away and they want too much money. I don't understand why they don't lower their asking price when they don't sell for months. I scream at the computer every time I see one for sale outside the USA I think 1/4 of them have been exported so that leaves only 750. Most I see have been west coast or Florida. The nearest one to me is in Chicago but 6900 for one with an old 2 stroke is too much. The one on cape cod is the next closest but only has a 9.9 for 6500.Highlander wrote:jrcanoe wrote:was able to search m19 and mac19. I want one and am just trying to soak up all info I can.

Dont worry one will come along in time, good things are worth waiting for.
Consider yourself lucky your not in Australia For A decent Mac 19 they are asking over $20,000, yes thats right twenty thousand dollars.
But then again we pay almost double for everything, I was just looking at repowering and a Honda BF50 is $12,000 here.
A good 26X with a 10 year old motor will empty your bank account of between $35 and $40,000 and A 26M around $50,000

Guess I know where I will be listing mine. OTOH, I have no plans to sell. Too good a family boat.

Re: Macgregor 19 search
I got my
shipped from the US. The extra cost is Shipping $15000 + Import duty (no free trade back then) 5% then 10% GST on all of it including shipping and duty. So a new $20k
lands on the dock here costing $40k+ and that's just the hull no extras then you have to convert the trailer to meet ADR get a motor etc
Then of cause there is the exchange rate that is like a yoyo.
But a home grown X knock off like the Mach 28 was $90k+ second hand at the time so that nice new
did not look too bad

$15K for shipping?? A friend had his 25foot cabin cruiser shipped over and was only $4 or $5K I remember it because at the time I was looking at getting a boat trucked down from Sydney and with the quote I got it was almost cheaper to bring a boat from the states than truck one down from Sydney

Re: Macgregor 19 search
4 or 5k for the boat trip for the container sounds about right but then you have road freight at each end someone to take the wheels off the trailer in the US and put thesailboatmike wrote:$15K for shipping?? I bought my Mac19 in 1996 and it is still going strong. In 2015 I replaced the original 40hp Johnson with a Merc 9.9 Prokicker. As I'm not a purest or racer sailor, I love this boat. I boat on the Potomac River south of Wash. D.C.
