Cockpit net

Post by kurz »

Hello
Becouse of my son (2 years old) I should protect the cockpit better so I think putting a net would be best.

Who has already done it? Maybe you have good ideas or photos.

The only I know now is the color, the net shall be black ;-)

Thanks

If u do not have an enclosure a lot of people go with a Lee Cloth same colour as their Bimini & or Dodger as it also offers protection from the sun & cold wind made from Sunbrello or other good material , but u should also consider PFD & a harness with a 3-6ft tether as a complete safety assembly if u do not already have them

A tether is a really good idea. I use 'em. 8)

I did my Hunter in netting from West Marine, and the UV rays ate it up in less than a year. It was completely deteriorated. I then found out about On Deck Sports. They make netting for batting cages, among other things. They also do custom netting for sailboats-for half the price or better compared to West Marine. Lasted almost 4 years! I think the website is ondecksports.com . Hope that helps.

I don;t remember where I bought mine but it was not from WM. It is entering its 5th season and I have only needed to replace the zip ties as needed. Also, keep the boat hook handy, you will get pretty good at retrieving toys.

Here's a picture of the netting from On Deck Sports. I got it to hold in my 2 year old (he's 9 now). As you can see, it does find holding in a bachelorette party, as well.
