Hi. In February I intend to spend a week with a mate on Windsong exploring the Gippsland Lakes from Lakes Entrance to LockSport and the end of Lake Victoria. I know the areas around Paynesville quite well but not beyond Metung.
Any great ideas about where to go and where to hole up for the night? Also has anyone crossed the bar at Lakes Entrance in a MacM? If so what was your experience like.?
Cheers
Dave

Never been there unfortunately,
but half of TSP lives down that way. Ask the question on there and you will get all the info you need Dave.

Just butting in,
where do you leave your trailer for that long down there.
That is an intended destination for me also.

Hi IIayca,
I actually keep my boat on trailer but mastup down there at a Marina. Sounds crazy when I live in NSW but my kids are in Melbourne so we go down 4-5 times a year and it is a great place to sail and costs me $80 per month storage. The kids also borrow it on occasions!

However there are three ramps on the Paynesville side of the MacMillan Channel and all have good size trailer parking (free) and quite safe with H&C showers, Toilets and Waste disposal. There are at least four
I know that are moored there and a number of others who come in to sail there and park for a few days at a time.
They are very crowded at Christmas NEw Year and Jan 26 weekend and Easter but apart from that they always have plenty of space there. The great thing about the area are the facilities for swing mooring as well as public jetty mooring both in town and at other beautiful parts of the Lake system. There are many shallower areas also where you can anchor and escape a blow. I'll be on the water Feb 15-21st if the weather holds good.
