What part of Spain are you located in? We spent some time last fall in Almeria.

That's cool. Here I am on my Mac in Nashville, and Moonie on his Mac in the Med, and we both had a great day. Awesome.

Hello !
I am glad to see that you sail in Med area. I have just bought a secon-hand 26X ( 1998 ). I live in Valencia and that is my sailing area. This is my secon boat, after a Coronado 25. And we enjoy very much with 26X !
Please, let me know something about your experience in Mediterranean sea. And about paella too, Tom !

My one stop ...

Post by Andy26M »

My one stop ever in Spain was at the Island of Ibiza on the way to the Persian Gulf in the early 90's.

For the first few days I thought "Well, I don't know what this paella is that everyone talks about, but this pai-ay-a sure is great!!"

Isn't it odd that in the U.S. we can get decent chinese food virtually anywhere, yet a good paella is all but impossible to find??

- AndyS

Incidentally, we had a great weekend sailing here in the Narragansett Bay area, too!

Agustin.
Good luck with your X Agustin. My sailing ground is around the Costa Duarada (L,Ampolla) next to the Ebre Delta. Winds are a bit slow at the momement gusting 2-4. We are about 170km from Valencia.
If you ever come up this way look me up. There is only 1 Mac in L'Ampolla. Pontoon 5 at Club Nautica. "HAVANA MOON" is her name.I'm there everyday.

That's fine, Moonie ! I have been living for 11 years in Torredembarra(Tarragona) and I know L'Ampolla. Right now, I go there as often as possible. My chlidren still live there, and we had many friends inTarragona and Reus. A friend of mine lives in Masos d'en Blade ( Miami Playa ) and, when we go there, we use to have a lunch near the Club, either L'Ametlla o L'Ampolla.
Next june 18 I am planning to go to Torredembara and we will come back to Valencia on sunday. If we have some free time, I will try to visit you.

Andy, what a nice place Ibiza is ! Many people here use to go there from Denia. It takes only one night sailing. But I daren't do it ! I'd rather go by plane ! And I see that "Paellas's cooking" will be a good business. I have to think about it.

I hope to sail this weekend. I have better to sail as often as I can, because I had never sailed before with a water ballast boat and Mac is quite different from other kind of boats in wich I sailed before. Rudder wheel seems strange to me under sail because of the engine weight (very hard and difficult ).
See you soon !
Best wishes. Agust.

I also find the wheel a bit difficult to manage with the engine up, while sailing...

What I do, until I get around to installing a quick disconnect system, is to just leave the motor down... It makes steering much much easier...

I know I'm sacrificing performance on a lackluster sailing boat, when I do this. But, I'm not in any race anyway... I may loose a knot or two of speed, but I don't care...

THE RAIN IN SPAIN

Post by gescriva »

Good to see there are a few spanish-based sailors around. I usually sail a 03 :macm: down in the Cadiz area, where the wind is strong and the sailing great. We should consider start a new thread for europeans/spanish and maybe including new messages in spanish as well.
I cant wait to get to my boat this weekend as i have been away for more than a month...

See you
