Where to get a steering wheel cap from....
Hello all. When I bought my 1998 26X a couple years back it did not come with a cap on the stock destroyer steering wheel ( 5 spoke 15 inch). Does anyone know where I can order one of these from. I have found a few different places that I can order a possible one from but then if it doesn't fit that I just have a big shiny piece of nothing to show my friends:) Also, on my 26X i am trying to have a front bug screen window for the front latch. Has anyone ever seen one of these or built one of these? Up in northern Canada they are a must or you would be out of blood by the time the sun rise came in the morning. I have used a couple cheap and inexpensive screen ideas over the last couple of years but I am looking for a long term reliable solution if anyone has one or knows where I can get one. Thanx for your help again...and again...and again

Tony
I picked one up from ebay for my 2001X (15" destroyer wheel) - 2 9/16" insert diameter, like this one:

Thanx Marco that looks like the one. I shall order it:) What do you do for a screen on your front hatch or maybe you don't have mosquitoes down under?

We have a bimini that stays up all the time while on the water. I found a mosquito net on e-bay, designed for a large, 2 to 4 person tent. I bought it on a whim (it was around 20 bucks, if memory serves) and, as luck would have it, it fits pretty well over the bimini. Even the fabric tabs work, as we tie them around the winches, and in the back of the cockpit.
The boat came with a net for the front hatch, velcroed in place, and another one with a zipper in the middle, velcroed over the entrance. The front hatch still works pretty well, but the one over the companionway was always a pain. The velcro got weak, it never stayed in place. The over-the-bimini mosquito net works way better

Re bug screen.
I took a piece of mosquito screen, cut it to the size of the hatch and glued Velcro to the boat and to the screen. Works like a charm.

Thats what I already did for the front was glued on Velcro and then used a bug net but the Velcro is weak and its time to either switch it out again or come up with something new. We did the Velcro from the inside up and then it was hard to close and secure the door so I was going to make a wooden frame window screen that just sits from the top down with gravity that I could easily remove in case I wanted to still have nothing or get out of the front. I was just wondering if there was some place to buy one or shall I be an inventor? I also did that for the main door in the back but for the same reason i was trying to figure something else out as the glue looks terrible and only lasts for a season or so before it starts wearing out and the netting weakens. Anyone else?

Found this setup. A little hokey, but might do the trick. http://shop.macgregorowners.com/prod.php?54147/

i dunno- those look like a pretty good idea.
would a three piece companionway hatch- like so many have done here- that i also need to do someday
but the pieces could be a wooden framed screen.
easy to nterchange with other solid panels- giving the flexibility of light, and air flow fine tuning.
i hear you about bugs- we have mozzies here the size of small pidgeons up here in the PNW- and "no see ums" ad infinitum!
