Another idea could be a zip-line? But your Husky might not like it!
:-)
My dog is only 14 lbs, but is so stuck-up that it would just not go onto a plank or a ladder unless I went on it first! Smart dog!
Wee-wee pads are very helpful!

One could rig a carefully designed harness for the dog and rig the
end of the boom as a crane for the heavier dogs... :D

May I ask what a wee wee pad is? ha ha!!! That's one thing. In the spring I will start training him with food so that should work. He is part Shepard/Collie as well as husky, Dam he is so smart he could probably do a better job of skippering the vessel than I can. It won't take him long to figure out that if he wants to go on shore to explore that the ramp is for that and I am not helping him down either way. :macx:

Here's what I bought !Image It folds down to 2 and a half feet, weighs just over 25 lbs and extends to 12 feet. Thats the only think i could come up with to climb down the front for both me and my dog. Regular boat ladders were that much or even more so....?

I had second thoughts about a harness. A sling similar to the one used for sharks or dolphins
would work better me thinks... 8)

Tony E wrote:Hello all. I just had a great season with my 26X but now its getting down to just above freezing at night here and its time to start to get my X ready for storage for the winter. I learned lots this year and added up the total nights I spent on my X and it added up to 34! One of the last things I want to figure out is how I can take my dog with me on week trips. He's perfect in the boat but it's getting him to shore several times a day for walks and to do his business. I bought a small dingy which I am sure will work ok but has anyone ever put a plank out of the front for a person or dog to walk from? I have learned over the year to gentle park the nose of the X on shore but usually I have to jump down the 5 feet and then miraculously pull myself back into the X. Its not fun at all and very hard to do. There is no way I could lift my dog up that high to put him in. What I was thinking is a portable plank of some kind that is approx. 6 to 8 feet long that when once connected to the front will allow my dog to walk down and up into the boat at will. Has anyone ever heard of this before or has any ideas on this? Thanx for the help again!!!! :macx:

So I think I have the ladder and dingy situation kind of covered until i actually try it out in the spring to make sure. Now the question is where will my dog ( his name is BRO ) sleep? Where does your dog sleep? There is only 2 choices for me and that's out on deck or in the cabin? Maybe in the back I could put his bed there? Where I go there are a lot of mosquitoes and bugs once the sun goes down until the next day and as you know there's little to no protection on the deck so I was thinking of bringing him inside which would be messy as he is a little bit more than an average size dog but at least he'd be out of the rain and bugs? When I go up north to an island that i stay on BRO always sleeps outside the tent. He is part husky so he has nice long hair which protects him from the bugs for the most part. If I had to open the mesh door a couple of times during the night for him 1,000 mosquitoes in 5 seconds would invade my tent so on the island BRO sleeps outside. I could install a small roof/shelter on the deck and I am sure he would be fine with that as long as he knows where we are and he can see us. Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions? :macx:
