Wow, thinking about next year already...those dates should work for me. I'm usually pretty flexible in mid-July, I'll try to find out if there's any festivals going on in Port Credit at that time.

What's the location? We're considering picking up a new boat in Milwaukee and taking it to either Rhode Island or Delaware to port. Got to figure out how the trailer gets there however.

That would work for me, as I'd like to poke around yet another sailing area. It's what I got a trailer sailor for in the first place.

Pictures I've seen of Simcoe are very enticing. Nice looking sailing ground.

Works for me, Lake Simcoe has been my playground since 1979.

I wont get anyone lost

I'm in for July11-21 that way if I stay untill the 21 weather permitting ramps will be quieter on a Mon for pulling out & less traffic than on a sun , L. Simcoe sounds good to me as we have done L. Ontario twice already , or Meaford Georgian Bay my home port , Although Georgian Bay is big water & would take alot more time to cover , anyways I'm in where ever we go !

I would love to be in on this trip. I'm pretty sure the dates can work, at least in part. I used to live on Georgian Bay (Penetang and Lafontaine), spent about 15 years of my younger life there. I actually worked on the Georgian Queen, a local tour boat, for 10 consecutive summers. That was awesome.

I'll need to work on convincing the Admiral. We have small kids (4 and 2) and although we've had a Mac for three years, we've only slept aboard once, the first year, and it didn't go very well...because of the then only child not sleeping well. I had an "S" at the time and my wife isn't a big fan of small spaces, so the quarters were a little too tight. We've since gone from and "X" to an "M" both because of opportunity and because the "M" birth is more open than the "X". I'll do whatever it takes to get out on the water, and stay out on the water. I plan on trying out the family sleep aboard in the early part of next season - so we'll see how that goes.

I have a sister who lives in Barrie. So that could be a good plan B if things go badly with the kids...or Admiral...or any combination of the two.

When we get further into the details and logistics, I'll be able to confirm. I'd sure like to meet up.

As for Georgian Bay, water levels have been so low, many boaters have turned to Lake Simcoe as the thought of ramming into part of the Canadian Shield does not sit well.

The charts in that area are all useless now

Kempenfelt Bay and Simcoe are perfect for boaters

Lots of places to go and enjoy the boating life

OK , OK Beene , If its L. Simcoe u want , I guess I'll settle for that as we did Georgian Bay the first MMOR, yes u & I had a great time this summer when we did the L. Simcoe cruize with two night stop overs @ Lagoon City , a fantasic breakfast @ the water front hotel & then off to sail all day , then back their in the early evening for some cocktails on the boat to whined down after a great day of sailing then off to the same water front hotel for a great steak dinner & drinks , then back to the boat few more drinks & talk about the great day we had sailing , also the ability to raft up our boats @ the harbour wall in Barrie then enjoy the walk through downtown Barrie to various bars & eateries also visit the couple of down town local beer breweries for some free tasting's & Oh yeh lets not forget their's also a Hooter"s bar right there on the water front , then their's the town of Orrila great down town city marina that seems to party all the time !! , then cruise up the trent severn a wee bit to the big shute ! lots of oppertunities so I'm in, I know I'll have to tow the line & behave myself , I will post some vids of our L.Simcoe adventure if I can figure out why my sd card will not up-load onto photobucket never had that problem before !!

Simcoe probably knocks me out,....

If I have to trailer two days that is four days vacation on the road, which is getting to be 50% duty cycle

I don't think I can do a ALB to Simcoe in one day.

Bummer. The Thousand Islands is obviously much closer, and one of my destinations yet to be realized, but that may be too far for the western Lake Ontario folks, which seems to be where most are from.

I could propose Rochester, of course, but I'd get things thrown at me for that.

The thousand islands are beautiful. If anyone is going there next year and wants to meet up, I will probably be IN since my schedule is flexible and we are planning at least two trips there. We launch at Mallorytown Landing and spend the nights on Grenadier Island Central since it is one of the few sites with an actual beach (small, but has a buoyed area for the kids).

The Mac slips right up to the shallow docks at Grenadier Central so no worries about getting a spot. Those docks are 360-degree sheltered so no movement whatsoever at night. Funny story actually: last year on Labor Day weekend all the "big boy" slips were taken so I had a bunch of people waving me off as I was coming in, thinking I was going to ground out on a deep keel. I just casually continued on and pulled in to the vacant shallow docks, the prime spot closest to the beach.

Rockport has a nice sail-up restaurant and Heart Island is worth the visit, especially on a Monday or Tuesday. US Customs is on Heart Island so for us Canadians that has to be the first stop if planning to do a bit of cross-border shopping. After checking in, a visit to Boldt Castle is in order, followed by a downstream run (usually, with prevailing west winds) to Dark Island to visit Singer Castle.
