Road Trip to pick up new Mac26X

Friday 6th Sept is the BIG Day
A mate and I are driving from our Homes on Central Coast towards South Nowra to pick up my new Mac26X

I'm not looking forward to the 8hr round trip, but can't wait to get her home and be sailing again.
First weekend will be getting to know the boat and "Denaming" her (using Googled hints on how to appease Neptune). After the weekend, the name "Stand Fast" will no longer be uttered onboard.

Soon, the Naming ceremony will mean that "Betty R" will be gracing Brisbane water, Broken Bay and the Hawkesbury.

Having waited three months for mine to arrive from USA just this March I can attest to the excitement of taking delivery, tis' a grand day indeed. Enjoy!

Spent my youth on Brisbane Waters waiting for the southerly buster to arrive...every afternoon in summer midday onwards....a wild ride in a variety small boats and more recently on the Hawkesbury...got as far as the Colo river ********WATCH OUT for power lines above Wisemans Ferry**** We found literature to be incorrect on power line heights....also watch out for the tides running in places at 5-6km/h. We found fighting that flow to be pointless so went with the tide most times.We had nearly 2 weeks and found the Hawkesbury very interesting....some of the earliest settlements in Australia and the river was the super highway of the time...quickly overtaken by the Great Northern road which its self was made redundant before it was finished.We did have some trouble with BIG super boats creating massive wakes on the river which if at anchor tosh a Mac badly...not so bad if under way and able to meet head on...even had one occasion where we got badly hit and then the wave bounced of the bank and hit us on the way back

Safely back to Central Coast with "Betty R".

Even Bulli Hill near Wollongong didnt present much of a problem.
I may need to swap my standard Peugeot 4007 detachable Tow Ball for a longer Swan neck. My curent one is a little too low.

Saturday was spent checking the Mast, Rigging, Sails, Engine, Electronics etc. Wish I taken a photo of the Mac26x outside my house with the Mast & Sails up. Very weird

Managed our first trailer Launch onto Brisbane Water at Woy Woy. No dramas, just lots of interest and complements from other Boaties.
Just enough time to give the engine a good blip, and cruise comfortably at 13 knots. Next weekend we will get the Rags up and check things out 'proper' under sail.

Welcome to the Martin, you sure didnt waste any time getting her wet. I just Googled Woy Woy and Brisbane waters as I admit I didnt know where it was, looks like a great place for a Macgregor, can you get to sea from there or are the bridges too low? Oh and in case you were wondering, she should be about 12 meters from water to top of mast. Now, pictures, if you dont post pictures then it didnt happen apprently.

Just be careful....the Peugeot 4007 can only tow 2000kg legally.....Macs very quickly go over that

I'll watch the Towing weight, don't you worry
I specifically bought the Pug 4007 knowing it's Max towing capacity. The Petrol Outlander(which is basically what the 4007 is a Diesel version of) only tows about 1.6 Tonnes.
I don't load my Mac up with clobber either
Most of my towing will be the 10 mins from the Lock up to the boat ramp.

Hi Martin. Nice boat. I went to Sth Nowra to go barter on that boat when I got back from being away for the week. You got in there first.
Glad it found a good home. Nice pics.
