Perfect position for boathook

We have several uses for ours. Roller Furling support while trailering, Whisker pole, snagging dock if in strong wind or current and the most recent has been rodent prevention. You heard right. We were anchored out behind an island at Wrightsville beach the other weekend at high tide and a rat that must have been caught by the rising tide swam over to visit and actually boarded us by the rudder ropes and jumped to the motor well. After chasing him out I gave him an attitude adjustment with the boat hook.

Plastic clips between the cockpit forward and next forward stanchions, just below the lifeline. always at hand, easy to re-clip.

Keep in mind that Mastreb does not have a normal boathook. E.g., I would guess many like me have one or two or more extendable boathooks that fit about anywhere. No, he has this single piece of long aluminium that could double as an aircraft towbar. Definitely needs somewhere to store that spare boom above decks

What I like about these is that you can unclip the far-end with the hook, so you can just unclip the near-end, grab the boathook by the handle, and rotate it to unclip the far-end. Makes it very fast to grab and right there at the cockpit.

And for the record, my boathook is a regular boathook that telescopes from 6' to 15' in three segments. I've been very happy with it.

When I first bought this watch I had buyer's remorse. How could I possibly justify spending $[...] on a watch when I drive a 1992 Ford Festiva don't even own a home?

Then the most amazing this happened. Last night I was out at a bar with some friends. I walked up to the amazingly beautiful woman, and she looked at me, then my watch, and said the most wonderful thing, "Nice Watch." I took that opening and asked her for her number, and she laughed and told me to go away. Normally women just laugh and tell me to go away, so this was a huge improvement and worth every penny.

After a rather painful and embarrassing mishap with the Emma Boston Terrier - 10x10 Iron On Heat Transfer For White Material I decided to splurge on myself, at Christmas. Noticing that the price had dropped on this watch, I figured it was time to purchase...time.

Man, this watch is awesome, does everything it's supposed to do, is dead on accurate, attractive etc.

Really, for the watch itself - 5 stars.

But it's imperfect, in it's perfection.

It's TOO accurate.

So now my phone rings, like... everyday.

Some dude from the International Meridian Conference, in Greenwich, UK.

"What time do YOU have?"

Every freakin' day.

And really early in the morning, too.

I was all "Geezus, do you KNOW what time it is?" the first couple of times they woke me up, until I realized that... they didn't.

"GMT is an absolute time reference" my *ss.

My wrist is apparently the "absolute time reference" now.

Which is a lot of power for one person to wield.
And I AM only human, even when I'm wearing the watch.

I was feeling lazy the other morning, and didn't feel like rushing out of the house, and I confess I abused the power.

So when they called, I told them it was actually 17 minutes, 28 seconds EARLIER than it really was.

Messed things up, but good, for the rest of the planet (sorry!), but i got to finish the paper and have a second cup of coffee, and didn't get docked for being late when I got to the office.

So - totally worth it.

No worries, though. I have a plan. I'll gradually put those 17 minutes and 28 seconds BACK, over a 2 week span of phone calls.

Because my watch says that I CAN.

Yeah, I had to sell my Zenith Defy Xtreme Tourbillon. Way too annoying because every woman within visual distance would come over and hit on me because it was so awesome. Couldn't go out in public with that hunk of awesome on.

Where d these things get tide info....or is it just a rough guide by latitude and moon position??

I sail in areas with strong local tides and wonder if these things give useful info in this case.

Stephen, it indicates high tide, incoming, outgoing, low tide, and time of high-tide for the date selected. You can correct the time-of-high-tide when it drifts from reality, and it will recalculate everything from there.

It has no position information other than time-zone.

Thus far it's been accurate with the data is shipped with, and is really handy for figuring out at a glance what the currents are doing at my marina, which is in a tidal wetlands channel.
