Post by Hamin' X »

I want to apologize for my snarlyness in a previous post that was directed at 1-Tntimbo. At the time, I was caught in a "love-hate triangle" between attorneys, state and federal government and having trouble "feeling-the-love" when a complaint came up here. Good news is: I backed 'em to the wall and prevailed. Not an excuse, rather a reason why I lost control. I could just go back and delete the whole mess, but thought that this would be the best way to handle my faux pas.

Apology not withstanding, a lot of time and effort goes into making this forum one of the best on the internet and a little give and take is needed to make the Moderator's jobs just a wee bit more endurable. We have been struggling to limit the number of spam attacks on the forum and it requires a lot of manual vetting of new members from all of the Moderators. Each new member must be individually screened and approve. Then, we must approve each of their topics and posts until we are sure that they are not spammers. At that point, we go in and change their status to a regular member. Very time consuming. Approximately 30% of newly registered members are spammers, usually from China, Pakistan, or some Eastern European 'Stan.

I hope that anyone that was offended will forgive, forget and move on, but try to understand where it came from.

Carry on,

~Rich---Hamin' X~

Umm, OK.

You know, you could have just clicked the link I supplied instead of waiting for the banner. :)

Sorry, I wanted to see what those other guys were seeing, that guy seemed all mad and said it was a rip off so I wanted to see what he was seeing, I assumed they were talking about the thing that was promoted by the banner ad, so I wanted to see the banner ad. The last time I looked I saw a picture of Judy. I did not see anything misleading about the banner ad when i found it.

Once I got in there and saw a picture of a guy pushing down on the gin pole bow line with his bare foot and pinning the forestay AT THE SAME TIME I realized I HAD to have this movie!!! I can't WAIT for my wife to see that; she will try to get ME to become a contortionist! This will be fun. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a GREAT idea but in my case it might be better if I SAT on the gin pole bow line with my BUTT instead of trying to stand on one leg and bend over at the same time.

Can't wait to watch the movie - hoping for 5 stars

Hey, I went back to edit this and now the banner looks like a picture of Heath with a bunch of holes in it.

Nice vid! - no jib sheets, no furler line, but it does look like the main is in the slot! That idea alone is worth the price of the video - I hope he shows me how to do that in the vid I bought!

Hey, maybe that movie might be more than just good entertainment! I might even lern somthin'! :? (I'm not too smart, but I can try to learn something).

Is Captain Victor there somewhere? I saw on the Utube that it was posted by VKmaynard but I did not see him in the vid.

My best learning seems to come with a 2 x 4. :P

I can use one of those too if it rigs the boat faster!

I saw the (black) jib sheets and furler line in the video. Erik also has an interesting anchor and windlass mod.

Victor is on this board frequently and I believe the camera operator and commentator in the video. If he didn't distract Erik, I bet he could have rigged it in less time.

Victor is real smart - he knows how to do electronics stuff and make his boat run on an autopilot - I wish I could do that.

Couple of things stand out to me being a newbie. The boom was still attached to the mast. I had sound down when I watched the video so missed any commentary ( due to location although others around me do not seems to care grrrrrr) but if a standard gooseneck - so simple it never occurred to me. Next the spreaders are telescopic i have mine pinned so they can be removed from the mast but telescopic is simpler. Leaving the mast raising system in place that did occur to me. Interesting that the mrs is being used back to front. Any reason for this?

Jeff Stagg wrote:Greetings fellow Macsailors!

I apologize to anyone who placed an order here after July 20th and has not received their DVDs. That is the most recent batch of orders I received from Heath. The best remedy for this is to go to your email and forward directly to me your HK Innovations paid invoice to jeff (at) speedyrigger (dot) com

Any invoices I receive by 4:40 p.m. today Pacific time will be sent today via first class mail or first class mail international from CA. Invoices received after 4:30 p.m. will be mailed next mail day.

The speedyrigger videos were produced in 2000 after a request from a large number of Mac owners on (at the time) the Sailnet discussion board, prior to their bankruptcy and subsequent sale. The thread was about how much time was spent at the launch ramp and complaining that Roger's factory video stated rig in ten minutes was hogwash. Well, the norm was a little under an hour; some were faster, the slowest was four hours. Yikes!

When I chimed in that I was rigging four to five times a week in twelve minutes or less (then driving from parking lot to the ramp to launch), everyone wanted to see it on video. So after filming and "editing the two and a half hours of rigging and sailing on VHS cassette at the time, Heath and I teamed up in December of 2000 with banner advertising here, and the orders are still coming. The video quality isn't studio quality, no question about that, but the content and procedures I show is helpful to everyone who watches them. Everyone seems to pick up something handy each time they watch them; for example, I don't remove the companionway "door" until the mast is already up and I need to go below to retrieve the boom/mainsail. (see Mac owner review snips link here):
http://macgregorsailors.com/catalog/pag ... eviews.php

The step by step procedure to rig and to de-rig are included on two sheets of paper in a sheet protector for use at the ramp parking lot.

An order I received on my website today had questions about raising the mast and I replied with the owners manual link from this site (see "resources" at top of page) and a request for his phone number to answer questions directly.

Any time I can help out I am available, though this forum is the best at getting a really robust amount of info in a rapid time frame, and I thank Heath again for hosting macsailors for all of us.

Can Anyone tell me if Jeff Stagg is still shipping his Speedy Rigger Instructional Videos? I submitted a payment via PayPal on June 2nd and received a payment confirmation and invoice number, but have yet to receive the DVD's. I sent an inquire to HK Innovations, and even sent Jeff a message via this site, but have not heard back.

Wondering if these are still available. I'm not that concerned about the money, although I would like a refund if Jeff is no longer providing the video's, but really was hoping to learn more about the 26X. Just picked up a 2000 26X at the end of May and have already had a few rigging setbacks. I hired a Former Mack dealership Pro to give us a rigging lesson and tune the rigging properly, so we can at least sail with confidence that everything is rigged correctly. But if I want to trailer it somewhere, I want to have a bit more knowledge.

Does anyone have any info on this?

Thank you
M.

It's a good video - I have one around here somewhere.

1. Develop a checklist.

2. Practice - I'm much better at raising and dropping the mast after I've done it a few time. Every spring, I'm a little rusty.

3. Put your location in your signature - you might be near someone who can help. Nothing like an extra pair of hands. 8)

Update June 16, 2016:

The instructional Mac rigging and sailing videos are still available on DVD and VHS. Orders placed on MacSailors go directly to Heath and are forwarded to me in batches. I haven't heard from Heath in a while and just responded to an inquiry from two hours ago from Rich about Mike Lyzun's order.

If anyone has placed an order and received a confirmation from HK Innovations but not received the order, please just email me directly with your name and shipping address and product ordered (or just forward me a copy of the email paid invoice) and I will confirm directly via email that your order is shipped within one day via first class mail, including international. USPS tracking emails are only available on international orders. Please no PM, I rarely log in.

email to: jeff (at) speedyrigger (dot) com, with name and shipping address.
