How do I list my '97X for sale?
Hi, it has been a while since I have been on this site and when I click on Classifieds, it only lists what is for sale. I don't find any button that lets me create a new for sale listing. Thank you.
Craig.

Hi, Craig. Sorry to hear you're selling, but you just need to click the 'post ad' link near the top of the page. Here's a direct link:

Hey, Craig... didn't you list your boat for sale back in May of 2011?
Oh, and also, it would appear you have 3 ID's on the forum... are these really all yours, or has someone been spoofing you?

If you need help in re-setting your old ID password, I can help you with that. Send me an email and I can fix you up.

Re: How do I list my '97X for sale?
Thank you, I will give it a try when I get back from work this evening.
Yes, they are all me. I never have been good at keeping usernames and passwords and it seems tht every aspect of life these days requires one.
Yes, I had put the boat up for sale briefly a couple years ago, but still was on the fence about selling. I just haven't had the time (or the physical fitness) to sail the boat since I moved to Texas. (also the Texas coastline is not full of cool little Tiki bars along the water like NJ was. Barnegat bay was a pretty special place that i didn't fully appreciate at the time. Friendly people, great weather, Tice's shoal where you could drop the hook and enjoy the beach, and drunken high speed boat operators that would nearly kill me on each trip.
I keep kidding myself that maybe I can lose some weight and get back sailing, but with my job and the crazy hot weather in Texas, am finally facing reality. And instead of nice little bars along the coastline, there are giant chemical companies, which are not quite as nice for the ambiance.
This boat was such a big part of my life, and it was one of the few touchstones that moved with me as I changed jobs and home locations from NJ to OK, and now TX, it is like an old friend and hard to part with emotionally. But it deserves to be out sailing and making people happy, and not using the boat and paying slip fees and doing maintenance is just foolish.
Thanks also for this wonderful website and all the good folks on it. This was definitely a unique boat and we all had to learn from each other how to make it work the best for each of our needs. (and always the guy that wanted to take it around the world and the various debates over whether that was such a good idea or not. ) It was amazing to see how well a few people were able to modify the boat to make it a pretty decent cruiser like Zeno's arrow and Duanne Dunn. Part of the fun was just seeing how much poeple with these various backgrounds in engineering and adventuring could do.

Oddly enough, there are even a few here, jet skis mostly, they hurl along at 40+ mostly looking at where they have been and the havoc they caused.dlandersson wrote:We have those here too.![]()

Re: How do I list my '97X for sale?
I grew up on Barnegat bay. My memory of Tices shoal was on the weekends you could walk across from boat to boat there were so many boats there. I could never relax because the sandy bottom and idiot boaters guaranteed someone would drag anchor and plow into us. Chances are it would be a raft up of drunken powerboaters who obviously didn't know anything about anchoring technique. The very last night we spent at Tices shoal, we awoke to crazy thunderstorms. Visibility that morning was horrible and for such a small bay I actually had to steer a compass course to get back and when we did, I was soaking wet and freezing cold. Oh yea, and the cigarette boats blasting down the bay and down Toms River really gave such a peaceful feeling to the bay. The only Tiki bar I knew was at Good Luck point and it was a bit pricey for the ambiance. I hear after Sandy it's totally gone. There was a restaurant (Windows on the Bay) that wasn't bad. The one hidden spot we enjoyed was a small park North of Forked River (forgot the name) that the chart indicated was 1' deep but was much deeper so few boats knew about it. Not the same memories you have.Craig Laforce2 wrote:(also the Texas coastline is not full of cool little Tiki bars along the water like NJ was. Sorry to see an owner sell their boat, but obviously you have given it much thought. Fair winds.

40's pretty slow for a JetSki John. I bet they were actually SeaDoos.JohnCFI wrote:Oddly enough, there are even a few here, jet skis mostly, they hurl along at 40+ mostly looking at where they have been and the havoc they caused.dlandersson wrote:We have those here too.![]()

I took a hit on the side of an inflatable a couple years ago, fortunately as he came out of a manoeuvre that had slowed him right down. he wound up in my boat head first (from the port side) I was escorting new kayakers at the time, one of whom was a pretty girly he was trying to impress, could have killed her!!. QHM was not happy, threatened to ban them from the whole harbour area.

Yup, I kept the boat at Goodluck point. I hope the marina is still there. Did you mean just the bar got leveled or the marina as well?
If I could sneak down to the boat on a weekday it was pretty peaceful, but the weekends were pretty busy. There wee a couple of nice restaurants on Forked River as I recall also. Tradewinds or something like that and Captain's something or other.
