Do you realize promotion and advertising can make or break a young company? In all honesty a little fan fair and free advertising VIA our curiosity could go a long way.Catigale wrote:Lets be careful and et these folks get their feet under them before we ask the to run.

Say your on the market for a Mac or Other trailer sailor and Google it then you see these posts come up and suddenly your able to cross reference Mac to Tattoo and not only that but get to see some details of the first launch and see they are Legitimate and producing boats and now keep in Mind that every sale is VERY important at start up. Frankly your conservative nature would be doing them a huge disfavor. (and if you read my previous post and know who Hunter S Thompson is you would realize its a JOKE posted on April fools.) LOL seriously someone should go see what they have cooking and post it for their own good and our curiosity.

Re: Tattoo Yachts update.
Ormonddude, I appreciate your point of view, but let's look at this in perspective.
The folks running the new Tattoo Yachts are already *very* experienced in the boat business, and the MacGregor business in particular. As the daughter and son-in-law of Rodger, Laura and Paul learned under the tutelage of the master himself. Further, they actually ran the manufacturing end of MacGregor and were also hugely successful in running the export business of MacGregor, with one of the largest and most popular Mac dealerships in the world. Also, I'm quite certain that Rodger is 'keeping his hand in' in terms of giving them sage advice and counsel along the way.
I don't think they really need our stepping in and showing them how to market their new business. I'm confident they will make a grand success of this business all on their own.

With all due respect, I am hoping they will totally ignore Roger's marketing advice. Roger found a great market and built a unique boat to meet it. However the Mac essentially sold itself and didn't receive any real marketing. To be honest, THIS forum sold me my boat. The factory website is a joke compared to almost every other boat builder (written in FrontPage 98 and lucky to get updated once a year).kmclemore wrote:I don't think they really need our stepping in and showing them how to market their new business. So far, I'm very impressed with the tattoo website (although it will need removal of the Mac name) and I'm confident that the next generation of MacGregor boat builders will bring modern marketing and new ideas to this unique market.
Business wise, they are already miles ahead of Roger in moving production to Florida where they are not limited to one boat per day.
Except for the name, I have high hopes for the future of this brand. Nevertheless, anyone in business needs to listen to their customer base. Frankly, this website is in my view THE definitive source on Macgregor sailboats and an invaluable resource. If I were Ms. Laura and Mr. Paul, I would be on here daily seeking a pulse for this market asking opinion etc. So far, she seems to have done that. As far as I can tell, Roger may have clicked this site once by accident.
Tattoo yachts has a big future.

Ditto what Russ said ; this site sold me on my Mac. Considering the Tattoo is very similar, at least for the forseeable future, the knowledge base here will be the best source for anyone considering the Tat 26. The name and some details have changed, but the underlying concept, and audience remain the same.

Re: Tattoo Yachts update.
If someone visiting from the forum to witness the Tattoo26 no.1 has anything to do with us altering the marketing? I must be on the wrong planet especially when for all intensive purposes this forum may have to change its title to: Macgregor/TattooSailors.com I honestly don't see the damage in it at all? Nor do I see it as disruptive or annoying more just a healthy curiosity from their fan base. We have all at the very least ordered parts either directly or indirectly and the curiosity is healthy for the company.kmclemore wrote:Ormonddude, I appreciate your point of view, but let's look at this in perspective.

Now what made me want a Mac I plugged in "trailerable swing keel" because of all the Oyster bars here in Florida Shallow draft is essential and I knew a marina would run me broke - The 26X youtube video was on the first search page. I got very excited at what I seen then I searched Mac 26X and found this place and put it on the back burner and browsed posts as I searched for my
But I see no Harm only benefit in a little visit and I also don't understand the dramatic over tones from someone saying HI!

I think Roger has done quite well for himself & family & I personaly think if they keep building the Tattoo to its standard basic level of production & reasonably priced for those entry level sailors or for those people like myself that r very D.I.Y. handy & with a options & list price for those who prefer to buy a loaded boat with all options or with-out options for those who wish to deck-out their own boats to suit their own needs like myself , I had a
Guess it will not be long before heath adds a name change Venturer, Mac, Tattoo site , after all we do not want these Tattoo guys getting ahead of us in the Mod's section
