Re: Tattoo Yachts update.
The 22 looks like a totally new boat. The 26 looks EXACTLY like a Macgregor 26 with different interior colors.

Right down to the "Ice Chest under seat" that didn't exist in the M but did on the drawings.
So, I take it we can assume Ms McGregor will be taking the molds to Florida where they are allowed to build more than 1 boat per day (the way Hunter did when they moved from New Jersey).
Not a fan of the name, but I hope the new brand will breathe new energy into the line. This is good.

Re: Tattoo Yachts update.
I would guess, and it's only a guess, that once the 22 is up and running, depending on how sales go, the 26 will undergo a redesign. Probably more than a new paint job and different seat covers, too. Probably similar in general appearance to the 22. But that's just a guess.

That 22 sure does look cool. I wonder if the white or blue hull will be faster?

J - Might be the same profile as our M's, but shortened to the 22-appropriate length, to make use of existing tooling (?)22 has a ballasted D/B would be interesting to hear more on this re weight & design

I just want to tip my hat to the Laura and next generation of Macgregors .. It takes some real guts to go into the boat business, especially in these economic times.

This will help maintain the popularity as well as the value to the exciting fleet. These are great boats and I am very pleased with what Tattoo Yachts is doing. I am actually amazed at how fast things are moving - I really thought it would take over a year to spool up 26M production in Florida. My hats off to them.

Cool. The factory location is not far from me. Maybe I could tour the factory?
Re economic environment and boat building: This is a proven and popular product built for the way 90 % of trailer sailors use them. I see it as a wise move instead of letting the brand die off. If the designs are updated for the younger generation, people might learn that they like sailing a lot when they can also hit the gas to get home before dark, outrun a thunderhead or just say, Know what, Ive had enough sun and wind, and now I want to be at a dock sipping a cold one. A sailboat can now be a good powerboat too, and I see no reason why they shouldnt be.
Sail when you can, power when you have too!

Re: Tattoo Yachts update.
The Big Question IMHO, is who is going to volunteer to be there and report on this major event? Dave is pretty close (closer than me anyway) we must have a member willing to go invade and basically act important as a web site representative snap some pictures and ask silly questions like "Hey do you have a open door policy to potential owners?" I am not saying show up empty handed maybe bring a sixer of Old Milwaukee and proceed to help yourself to any food or Libations available. Basically have a good enough time to make us jealous while doing some Hunter S. Thompson type reporting.
