19 -22 Let's roll!
Do you think we can get Snug Harbour in PC to reserve, say, six (or whatever)adjacent berths? If not then move over to the other next door marina?
Start the list....

Hey! Not that I wouldn't hesitate to think of you first when rushing to buy my own ticket! :D

Good idea though..... sadly my retirement impoverishment inspires me to lesser thoughts.
John, the point I make is to now quickly form a list (show of hands) to negotiate a cluster of people imminently ready to sign in with a booking cheque. The date is agreed then. :) and while the substitute location doesn't even come close to it in pure ascetic qualities, the MMOO moment would be something to behold!
This should need to occur sufficiently within the next two weeks, or so. Add mine. 8)
I'm trying to find out if you can anchor in the Credit river mudflats, later on, for the Shuffle. Not a navigable (for most) waterway, and might be free (we could raft!) :D
Not sure how many open places your going to find on Lake Ontario, other than the TO Islands, that can take anchoring in bad weather. And you know how it gets. :?

Well it's hard for me to plan that far in advance with the kids and all ...but I haven't missed a MMOR yet :) The weekend of the 17th is BUSKERFEST so it'll be busy. MMOR II was on that weekend and it was alot of fun. (I'll bring my wakeboard so Highlander can try it out in his kilt :D ...Now that would be busking :) ) I may be up in Georgian Bay. Crikey I'm not sure you'll be able to anchor at the mouth of the credit for too long, the police boats often patrol there. There is a sheltered area at the little bay where the Lakeview promenade launch ramp is, about 2 miles away, Ive seen a couple of sailboats anchored there occasionally. Looking forward to it.

Rocky, I was thinking about the Buskerfest too.
Though we will be staying through Highlander, and Beene's preferred dates: 19th to 22nd, we are trying to arrive on the Friday night, for the weekend Festival as well. I've sent e-mails and a phone message to the City of Mississauga people responsible for answering my questions about pre-booking a cluster of at least six boats, in advance, for this time slot. No response yet, though the main guy did come back with a 'vacation message' and I'll wait a couple of days to see if I need to push again.
Their main restrictions appear to be for the 'Shuffle' weekend, which is a couple of weeks later - so we'll see....
Otherwise it's first come, first served, and that would reduce the options of a number of people. I'm sure at least six people would pre-pay once we know the possibilities exist, and the grouping, if they went for that, at this time, would be enjoyable.
I also checked with the next door, Port Credit Marina, but the person I talked to had no interest whatsoever in booking anything, for anybody, at this time. She told me to call her back in June! Dumb. The other remaining possibility is the main Yacht club at the bottom of Cawthra Ave - where John and Geoff put in (yourself?), Very nice facilities, and club reciprocal, but away from Port Credit.
Right now, I'm waiting with baited breath, but if they (PC) won't do any accommodation for us I'll book for the 16th, singly - in advance, and hope to meet some of the others similarly minded.
Will post if I learn more.

Ross.

I'm in that number, as I don't want some last minute excuse (by others, starting with the Admiral) to influence me out of it. :D

I didn't know there was a difference. :|

Does it matter if it's away from Port Credit? Not trying to be snarky - I don't know the area, and to me, any time on a boat is time well spent. 8)

What about in Toronto, at the island (or islands)? Or on 'The Wall'? I'd suggest Cobourg, but they don't take reservations (beautiful marina and town, though) as I found out when I sailed there and got in after dark. Had to tie up to the wall, with no electricity for one night. They have a sheltered anchorage that only had a couple of boats in it when I was there, but without a dink, that could be tough. Or maybe it's a good excuse to buy a small soft-bottom or roll-up inflatable with oars. :)

Again, I don't know what I'm talking about here, but that's never stopped me. :D

Ross, I'll be in port credit when I do a shakedown cruise in mid April as soon as the launch ramps are open. I 'll stop at the marina and ask about booking but I don't think they're open until May.

Tkanzler, the last 2 years we had MAD MEN at the Credit Village Marina. This works out well because it is 100% transient so it's easier to get slips together. Also, it's staggering distance from pubs, restaurants, cafes, marine store and grocery store. This marina is a little more tolerant of noise at night, social gatherings at the slips, people falling off the docks ( Ross, wear your pfd on the docks will you? :D ) etc., since its in the middle of a pretty lively area. The other marina is Port Credit Harbour Marina which is a little more secluded and would be more difficult to get slips together. The Wall at the toronto islands is great but is first come first serve, so if the weather is nice it does get quite busy.

Thanks. As I said, I don't know the area, but I'm happy to go along (to get along :D ). Should be a lot of fun no matter where it is.

Staggering distance, huh? You've been peeking. :D

By the way - what happened to the signature line? It seems to have disappeared. :o

It's a bunch of characters (up to something like 250) that you can append to the bottom of each post automatically. Access is through the user control panel.

Image

They have to be enabled, which they are, but I realized a little while ago that there was an awful lot of white space at the bottom of each of my posts that didn't used to be there. Maybe the board has shut them off for some reason.

Tom

Be seeing you . . .

(OK, just kidding - I added that in manually, but that's what my sig line is supposed to look like.)

Where are we on schedule and slip reservations?

The admiral wants to go to Chicago for the grand opening of a bakery that the daughter of one of her oldest friends is opening, and now I'm getting pressure to go, and it's sometime in August. :x I gotta get this locked in so it can't be changed. :D
