Looks like we will be heading to Cayo Costa State park, Pelican bay this weekend 4-6 evening thru 4-8! Weather permitting of course! Cabbage Key Sunday for an early supper and drinks!
Any takers?

No but as I look out at another 8-10 inches of snow on top 3 feet I must say that
I and many others will be waiting to see the pictures you post. Good sailing to you.
We just got back from Cayo Costa. Left. Friday Morning from Cape Coral for the 28nm to Cayo Costa to meet up with the WCTSS.We had 23 boats last count.
Here are some pictures from Ron Hoddintt (founder of WCTSS) and others. http://members.ij.net/wctss/wctss/photos101.html
A 5 day trip well spent.

Thanks Dave, very cool! I am gonna have to pratice backing my X up to the beach, never could do that before with a 4.5 draw! Did you stay there on the beach like that over night, or did you anchor out in the bay?
I always anchor stearn to beach, drop the anchor with boards up and go astearn and raise engine when close and hit beach, throw stearn anchor out and tell the parson on Bow to take up slack in the line. Lower ladder and walk off without getting feet wet.
At night I do pull in bow anchor and realease stearn anchor to allow for tide height (some times I don't an roll out of aft bunk).
should mention we all anchored at the inside sand spit N. Pelican Bay but we also in past anchored stearn to at N. end of Pointa Blanca Island.
All the boats anchored on beach except 2 with deeper draft. Some Anchored at night on the hook inside of the spit.

Sounds easy, will find out this weekend! Looks nice where you were at, can't place the location, how far back in the bay did you go? Before or after the docks/ranger station...... or was it near the cove as you come in to the right??
Cove on right side as you come in, has 5-6 ft.depth in backside. Very well protected in any direction.
Pedro on a MacX Sea Wind was their, he was at Cabbage Key on our trip back getting a Jimmy Buffet Hamberger in Paridise.

Yup, I figured that out, I read your response that was added on before I sent you my question, lol perfect!! Prob get in right before sun down Saturday night, so will hang on a hook in the bay, then proceed there Sunday morning, then later that day, out for a sail and a hamburger!! Then back to the cove Sunday night! Will take the senic route back to Englewood Monday, do some trolling in the Gulf! Come on Amber Jacks!! Thanks!!! B.
Do you guys have any idea how much it hurts us here in snow country to read that stuff?
I'm not suggesting you stop, because that's as close to sailing as I can get right now, and it's better than nothing (or watching Captain Ron for the hundredth time) - just that it hurts.

Where are you putting in and out? We are working on the Endeavour in east Englewood at Charlotte Harbor Boat Storage north of Placida/Boca Grande. Stop if you get a chance and have a great time on the water,
Launching at Englewood Requires a $5 launch Than $5 per day for truck/trailor storage, you need to go North of the ramp to store your truck/trailor. Most don't know this.

Come on by, lots of bikes on that road. We are the second boat in past the gate on the south side. Suburban with Utah plates. The gates are locked after 4 pm and 12 noon on Sat.. I'll PM you my cell number in case you come by when the gates are locked and maybe call first to make sure we are here so I can let you in.
Which ramp were you talking about in the other post?
Thanks for the invites and information! I keep my boat docked in Englewood on Beach Road in Red Fish cove.............. and Sum, if you EVER take your tall rigg out thru Stump Pass, you should be shot! But if you do, heed my warning now, the channel has changed greatly, you need to stay on the South side of the channel, and maybe you will clear the growing sandbar! I lost my 1981 33ft Hunter Cherbuini Christmas day to that sandbar!!
