New to site...Hello to all

Post by Sailing Virginia »

Just recently picked up a 1971 MacGregor/Venture 222. Boat needs a lot of work and I have already learned a lot from the post here. Tons of knowledge here... I am in the demo stage with my boat and plan to get interior squared away before spring.

I have never seen a Venture, but have read much about them here. Welcome, and feel good about being here, and owning a boat that is spoken of well.

Hi everyone, I have a very pretty '69 25ft Venture which the previous owner hit the hard with its fixed rudder.
So it needs some glass work to the transom and I would like to build a kick up rudder. Being a boatbuilder I still need the plans and dimensions.
Any ideas? sketches?
A trailer sailer is new to me, Its a whole new venture. My last boats were trimarans in which I sailed the Pacific.
"Highlight" was an early Piver lodestar that we logged 35,000 miles in from Sydney to Vancouver, Rapa to Hawaii,
and the 40ft "Rose-Noelle" the Barrier reef to NZ. "The Spirit of Rose-Noelle" (Penquin)
Looking forward to being on the water again.
Hope we might meet some of you.

Hi John,
If that was you in the "Rose-Noelle" in 1989 when it flipped, I'd say fixing up a 25' trailer sailer should seem pretty easy going :!:

Looks interesting John - will have a look. Sounds like you have done some pretty exciting/challenging things on the water :!:

Hope you don't mind the suggestion John, but you may get more response by putting this request up as a separate thread headed "Does anyone have plans/dimensions for 1969 25ft Venture?". The current request may not get found by a lot of people whilst buried in this thread.
