Do I need a 25" Length?
I am forced to buy a new motor and am settled on a 40hp Merc. Do I need the 25" length or will the 20 inch do? I am confused about this

shaft length on my ETEC-60 is 20" according to the MFR spec, and it works fine.

What did you have before?
If you measure from the transom down to the bottom of the hull
The cavitation should be about one inch below the hull
