My 2009 26M, how to buy accessories?
My 2009 26M, how to buy accessories?
I finally did it, I bought a 2009 26M two weeks ago.
Love the boat. Not the easiest one to dock, because my dock for the moment does not allow me to dock with lowered keel and rudders. Drifting off a lot, I can tell. But I will swap to another berth soon, where depth allows me to use keel and rudders. But on the water, it turns out to be everything I hoped for, and more. Thanks a lot to everyone in here for sharing experiences, you are all very inspiring.
However, it is not possible to buy a finished boat. There will always be something you need to buy, to make everything complete. Even though I live in Norway, I have some experience shopping from american webstores, ebay and so on. Better prices, Norway is expensive you know.
So, I sent an email to accessories@bwyachts.com , and asked for the parts I wanted. The boomkicker vang, a kit of battens, and also if they had the wooden imitation frames for the cabin windows inside, and a suitable holding tank kit for the marine head. Also pointed out that I would pay in advance, and that I would prefer if they could ship the package to my mailbox in New Jersey. Shipping from New Jersey to Norway, I would take care of myself.
Email was sent on thursday 14th last week. Still no answer. Anyone with similar experiences? Is this common? What can I do to make them answer me?

Almost all of the companies on this site, as well as dealers, are sole prop. businesses....if you email them on the week and it's the week the family is in town, give them some time to respond please.
There are no banks of tech support people at these firms, the owners do it all themselves. This weekend was a holiday weekend for Dads in the states, btw.

Thanks a lot, I guess that might be an explanation.
Guess I just wait and see some more days. Hope all this can be found.

Thanks a lot, Quèbec 1.
I will let you know if I find window frames. Have you been searching those too? I did not imagine they were hard to find?

Welcome aboard and Congratulation on the boat ...
Wooden (?) Window frames
It might well be easier to make them yourself or have a local Carpenter or hobbyist make them? Maybe a small cabinet shop?
Response Time?
1.As Cat said we had what is for many of us a Holiday recently ( Fathers Day )
2. Its Sailing Season here now, for the Entire Country..
Businesses who may have been All But Idle ( very slow) are now swamped with work and or orders for products..

There is a user, bwygirl, who frequents this forum, who I assume works for BWY.

As others have said, a little patience is advised. BWY is a family run dealership, and they now are the primary outlet for Mac parts and accessories. They have extensive experience shipping parts to locations all over the globe. Next week they will be hosting their annual Rendezvous for Mac owners. This is something they have sponsored for the past 25 years, and it involves a lot of extra work and preparation on their part. Given the small size of their staff, I suspect that Rendezvous preparations may be a factor in the timing of their response. And yes, bwygirl is coowner of BWY.

They can be a little slow answering emails sometimes, but I've always had good service from them, with excellent pricing, so I'd give them some time to get back to you.

I jut end up calling the 1 800 number and ordering directly. Much faster and talking to a person they can recommend things you wouldn't think of without having to play tag

Thanks a lot for all of your response.
I understand I have to be more patient.
If nothing happens, I will give them a skype call medio next week. Cheaper than international phone taxes, for sure.
Divecoz, the frames are shown in picture underneath, surrounding the windows.

Compared to the interior on my boat without the frames, like the one shown underneath.

My admiral thinks frames look better, and she is always right you know. No difference from Norway to the US at that issue, I guess.

Jon: I think you will be dissatisfied with the end results.. Imagine replacing all your door and window trim ( often just baseboard) with strips of 3/16ths Paneling.. You will lose the 3 dimensional mass aspect.. Its why those "Woodies"
of the 70's and 80's had a thick wide trim ring surrounding the sheet of plastic that represented wood panels.. 3D Mass..
