Does anybody have a close up picture of their forestay attachment to the bow? I got an anchor roller on there and I'm not exactly sure where to connect to forestay. I believe I remember that there is a plate attached to the anchor roller with 2 holes. I assume the forestay goes either on the left or right and the jib halyard connects to the other one. The manual doesn't match what's on my 26M.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Forestay attachment to anchor roller?
I don't have a pic and the boat it too far away to take one.
But I think you've got it right. I have a furler, but the forestay pins through one of the holes on the bow roller. I don't use the other one, but if you have a hank on jib, that would be the place to attach it.

Re: Forestay attachment to anchor roller?
The anchor roller is seperate. I have a furler and attach it to the port side hole, to keep the drum a little further away from the roller, but would probably put it to the starboard with no furler. I doubt it matters really..
My anchor on the stock roller is only a temporary measure until I get around to getting a decent anchor roller
(If your anchor fits in the anchor locker,, its not big enough for this boat. )

Seems like your anchor is bigger than the boat here!Mac26Mpaul wrote:My anchor on the stock roller is only a temporary measure until I get around to getting a decent anchor roller(If your anchor fits in the anchor locker,, its not big enough for this boat. )
Thanks for the pics, looks like I've done it right. I also spent about 2 hours scratching my head looking for a backstay while bringing up the mast (heavy sunburn and freaking out about the mast falling forward).

Its only just big enough for the Mac (rated 26 foot boat max)
https://www.whitworths.com.au/main_item ... lutePage=1
but I have not had any dragging issues with it.
I twice dragged with the Sand anchor I had as my main anchor before, once only 10 yards from an oyster lease before I bolted from the cabin and go thte motor going.... I would not like to drag into my local very dangerous coastal bar in the middle of the night
Mast fall forward
If you dont already have a mast raising kit, get one as they are just brilliant and make the mast raising process easy and safe.

I've got a 22lb claw anchor. Love it on the roller.badchild wrote: Seems like your anchor is bigger than the boat here!

BTW, you need to change your profile from "Shopping" to what kind of boat you have.
Your comment makes me think an M.
The lack of backstay took me a while to get used to. I do like not having one in the way. Seems like magic when the shrouds tighten up and the mast is upright.
As mentioned, the mast raising system is the only way I'd raise the mast.
Welcome aboard!!
Re: Forestay attachment to anchor roller?
I got the mast raising system... But once it was up I didn't know how to back it up so the mast falls backward
It was interesting... Now that I know how it works I'm fine.
Thanks for all your help, will update my profile.
