Rob, it certainly was. Bryan was pretty pi$$ed off. Ha ha! Today he attempted to fix it and it shot out all over him. Oh man....
It turns out all the screws were broken off on the inside. He had to drill to get them out. Yikes!
Ok, so I briefly looked at composting toilets online a bit ago but then got distracted. Now that you mentioned it, I went into research mode, and I like what I'm reading. Boy they are pricy but sound kinda worth it. May have to seriously think about this....
Please PM me their contact, would love to chat with them! I would love to see her cabin organizers....may have to get me some of those;-) Thanks so much!

Dave....ahhh, so sorry! Vitger is right, he was the first! You are second in line though:-)

Vitger, am answering your PM now:-)
I'll be posting more stuff available soon....

I also have a grey sunshade available. Will have the rudders available this summer, as well as the original mainsail which is in great condition!

Dave, can you explain what you mean and who you are talking to? There is no such word as portification so I am assuming you mean pontification. Which makes no sense to me.... :?
Apparently my advice is 'seductive' too. Well....I've never got that one before....ha ha ha!

I am on the right boat (last time I checked anyway, after that red wine, who knows!) and I'm preeeeetty sure I'm on the right forum! :D
I take it you are bitter because someone else asked first for the interior fabrics, whom I had to honour first and told you sorry? Why?! If something that trivial upsets you, I'd hate to see something actually BAD happening in your life. Yikes!
*hands you a chill pill and runs for her life!*

Nothing like a psychotic outburst to make one feel welcome! I really don't care to put up with this kind of crud however....this forum rocks in so many aspects with wonderful people who outshine your rudeness ten fold! Take your negativity elsewhere please, it's a real buzz kill....

Cheers!

I have questions regarding the washing and drying of your interior fabrics. Did you wash them on the "Delicate" cycle? What detergent did you use? Did they have a tendency to shrink? Did you dry them outdoors in the sun rather than in your dryer? I'm about to start cleaning my recently purchased "X" and I plan to go through the interior thoroughly. Thanks in advance for responding.

I have an M, but I don't believe you can put a drain in there. It's below the waterline for one. It can't drain overboard. It would only go lower in the boat and still require clean up by hand.

After that incident, I doubt you will have a repeat.

Enjoy your new boat.

What some people did (including my dear PO) is put a bilge pump under the head area below the liner, as such if you drill a drain hole in the head's liner you can still "suction out" the greywater. I try not to overuse it, so when my bilge pump really need to get going , i.e. in an emergency, it would.
I have a manual/auto flip swith right next to the head door, courtesy of the PO. Great idea/system IMHO.

Extreem....I'd like to know too. I'm guessing we'll never find out;-)
Forums mimick real life....except everyone has the protection of their computer screen....hehe! I'm still dying to know, I'll admit!

Wasp18, I debated how to clean everything for a bit. Being the crazy OCD cleaning lady I am, I opted for a small amount of bleach in the prewash for a 15 minute cycle. I followed that with a 15 minute wash with anti-bacterial dish soap, and then a 15 minute wash with normal detergent. Air dried after I put them in for a short drying cycle! I should also mention I have a combo washer/dryer unit in our condo that uses steam to dry. I was impressed. No fading....it looks the way it did before I washed it except it's super clean! The real trick is getting it all back over the foam pieces! I opted not to put them on the aft foam....as I knew I would be giving them away in the near future. Everything else went back on fine though, with a little work;-)

Divecoz....they are! I <3 my Mac! For sure will look this all up....so many people to meet, it's fantastic! I have dedicated a scribbler to everything MAC so I can keep track of it all. BTW, check your PM! I am so sorry, I realized you messaged me ages ago just the other day. DOH!

Russ....what Vitger said. I think. I have seen a couple of mods to put a drain in the shower. Maybe on the X it can be done because of the different layout? Gosh I hope so! Ha ha! Oh and thanks! :-) We are having a blast!

Vitger....AWESOMESAUCE! Do you have a link to this? I saw something about putting a sump in under the head....I guess it drains out where the sink does? Not too savvy with all this stuff, but if I can show the hubby a picture, he can determine whether it's possible for him to do, or if it's better to hire someone, ha ha! (I always vote in the professional, but he is capable and handy. I just hate to see him stressed out! Ha ha!)

Cheers!

I'm curious to know what kind of head system you have that a broken handle could spray black water. Holding tanks aren't normally under pressure (should be vented to the outside). Flushing is usually done with sea water, or fresh perhaps, especially for a porta-potti, but there obviously could be systems I haven't seen before. I've only ever had manual Jabsco type heads with separate holding tank, or porta-pottis.

What do you have for a head system, out of curiosity?

I was reading the last few days, sorry was to busy to post.

CONGRATS! On the boat, as you know I bought mine just shortly before you, it was also a huge clean up job. I am glad you got it out on the water, and everything went well. I am heading out tomorrow and hope it will all go well.

Cheers.

Tkanzler....I'd love to know the same thing! We all thought it would be fresh water....it only makes sense that it pulls in the water from the lake. It is for sure vented to the outside. I am going to post pictures in a couple of minutes. I have no idea how six screws broke in half when I pulled it. Bryan keeps calling me the Hulk....ha! The system we have is a marine toilet (Jabsco) with the holding tank located under one of the seats.

Kevinnem, Thanks so much!!!! Long time no chat:-) I have to get caught up on everything here, will go look at some of your previous posts! I am so happy for you....it's really very exciting! The clean up was pretty crazy in the boat. It was in EXCELLENT condition, it just needed to be cleaned after being outside for the last year. There was even a hornets nest built into the hatch. Mud everywhere. I had a real time!

Also should mention the cockpit cushions and sunshade are no longer available! ENJOY them Chrisv....it was wonderful meeting you and your sweet little kids! I'm glad I was able to make it pretty much on time, after that unexpected wild night before ha ha! Getting out on the water early CURED me...woot! 8)

Cheers!

Congratulations Starspun !
I can second the composting head. I purchased one for my new Mac last year and can vouch for it.
They are a bit spendy but worth every dime IMHO.
Took a peek today inside the holding box and everything had turned to dirt over the winter.
Best of luck with your new Love.

Rather than installing a drain, get a composting head. I met a Toronto couple (Greg and Linda Henley aboard their X - "Flirt") in the Florida Keys this March that lives aboard their Mac. They have been doing it for a long time(years) and we were more than a little shocked at how clean, neat and odor free the boat was. They had a lot of praise for the head and said they go for at least 3 weeks without having to empty it. When they do it is apparently not worse than yard compost for smell. It sounds like you two will spend a lot of time aboard so I think it's your answer.

Linda is a sailmaker and has made a lot of cool cabin organizers out of sailcloth for their boat. If you want their info, just pm me. You will probably run into them in Florida. Encouraging to know also, they have made about 15 trips to the Bahamas and Abacos with the Mac.

Starspun looks like it will be a great summer for boating. My 2 boys and I were at the mooring wall at the Toronto islands on the May 24 weeekend. Got there at around 10am and there were no spots left by 1pm. Couldn't ask for better weather 8) . Enjoy the Mac.
