Hi there,
the UK MacGregor Owners Club organized a rally to Britanny last June. I am sure if you look/post at their site you'll find some more helpful information or some contacts you could pm.
Best wishes,
FS

Good stuff, Thanks. Anyone else, do chip in.
Where do you slip on the easy coast by the way? I'm near newmarket, looking for somewhere from Gt yarmouth down to Brightlingsea/other?

The previous post looks like a better answer for you but I had found this when looking into it before. http://www.moet-chandon.co.uk/pages/canal-maps.php
I am guessing you are looking more into sailing but having traveled many times in France I would not discount leaving the mast at home and using the mac as a canal boat. I have done a decent amount of canal travel with mine in Canada and it works great for it. Actually, the UK looks fun too! Having seen the facilities in France, they will be really good for the Mac.

We've very recently moved down from Scotland and Rockhopper is now in Burnham on hard. The admiral likes the marina facilities (i.e. Swallow Tail Restaurant and Bar), the kids find a lot to do in Burham as there are some great play grounds not far and the slipway is huge and not to steep. The Crouch and the adjoining rivers and creeks look like fun to sail on (apart from the firing range close by133bhp wrote: Where do you slip on the easy coast by the way? Et voilà, there is a French MacGregor Association ! http://lesmacgregor.forum-actif.net/
If anybody, they should be able to answer all relevant questions.

Worth a try but I saw that site too and they are definitely not as maniacally active as the members of this site areFinallySailing wrote:Et voilà, there is a French MacGregor Association ! http://lesmacgregor.forum-actif.net/

Had look at the Fench site but as you say, not that active and nothing I could see on brittany etc.
Checking out the UK site, thanks. Are you or anyone else a memeber also?
Having the mac already on a river/canal system . I'm keen to sail on open water proper. but one day would like to go through the franch canals to the Med.
Anywway, my first proper sail yesterday, thats is one without driving rain/blustery gales. On a 6 miles river section, Full main only as furler being sorted. but hot blazing blue sky, strong winds and finally saling properly at a peak of 4.9 mph! Sound of no engine is great. even gybed okay. what a difference, finally Understood whats it all about and made all the expense, hassle, mast up down/up worthwhile!
cheers all

Yes, I am. It is actually a proper RYA associated club, as such also does have a library etc (though I am not quite sure how good/up to date). Check out the August bank holiday sail. It sounds very promising with 60+ people so far. It sounds you as if are having great fun with your Mac. This is exactly what it is all about ! Enjoy the lovely May sunshine !133bhp wrote:Checking out the UK site, thanks. Are you or anyone else a memeber also?
