Turning the Tables

Ahoy,

Miss Pat and I are still looking, and will be for a number of months, I suppose.
Hopefully, in the meantime, some of our questions will not be too obvious.

At the moment, we tend toward the MacGregor 26X.
Yet, the MacGregor 26M has some excellent features from the swivel mast to the open interior.

From what I can garner, the MacGregor 26M interior itself has undergone change, from an earlier version (2004) to the current layout?
At least, based on photos, such seems to be the case.

My question is whether the earlier interior layout (MacGregor 26M or 2004) includes a table?

Those of you who already own your boat, how often do you use the interior table?

We always use the table in our to prepare and eat all meals, for games and as temporary storage.

Mine is the 05 M and has the table as shown in the 2nd Picture..
1. When we have her in the slip we use the Inside table a lot.. Dinner for sure and sometimes????? Lunch though lunch IS as often as not eaten on the cockpit or on deck chairs out on the Dock gathered with other boaters..
Our Children are grown gone and we have 8 grandchildren..( Believe me that can make a HUGE difference in how you life and what you do and how your relate with your spouse etc etc etc..) We use our table in the evens... we often will sit and read and have a glass or share a bottle of wine and have fruit or chocolates or I might even fix a cheese and cracker or bread tray.. We use it often to plan our day , be it sailing or a land experience..
In Short we use our table a LOT! I am not a big breakfast guy.. but my wife will often have cereal or fruit and depending on the weather she'll often sit in the cabin at the table to enjoy the solitude..
2. On The hook? I did that for a total of 6 and 1/2 weeks one winter. I used my table a lot.. Eating Reading going over charts planning the next days sail.. even rigging lures etc etc IMHO a Table is indispensable..
3. If you look in the mods section you will see several have added sliding drawers and numerous other things that improved their tables ..
For Us....the small table on the early M would have been less than desirable , but I am sure I would have just..... made something that worked better for us.. Its ALL ABOUT US!
Table Size..For Us that table is perfect in size, for too many reasons to count.. When we have had Grandchildren along? Its been fine as well.. With the two small girls 5 and 7 we all eat in the cabin.. with the two boys who enjoy sailing 12 and 14 ? Hahaha the 3 of us eat most meals in the cockpit.. Must be a Young Guy Thing? I personally no longer like to eat on a plate in my lap..

Ya table is good. I believe but not 100%sure that the earlier model M's table sits in the middle of the boat and can/has to be removed. I remember seeing a pic with a full table in the middle plated for dinner...?

We also use our stock table on our 03 M on a regular basis. The picture your showing is my coffee table which I keep up when not having a meal. The large table when in place on this model is really large and takes up lots of room , constricts passage fore and aft and therefore is stored against a bulkhead when not in use.

We have a 2011 M and think the table is just perfect. We use it in the evening for meals and the table is just the right size for chart and drink. Looking at the pictures of the smaller table and how it restricts for and aft would not be ideal for our situation. Of course everyones situation and circumstances differ that is why you get a choice. As for me and the missus we love it. Good luck on the search.

Where do most put their cooler/refer? I've seen some pics of stuffing it under the table, others have a cushion that comes out in the rear berth (don't think all M's have this?).

I'd like to get a DC refer, but am scratching my head as to where to put it.

Slipped in the Marina using the M as a Lake Front Cottage and a Day Sailor. We have a Dorm Size 110 V. Fridge Freezer sitting on the port single berth across from the head. Out Sailing for longer periods (That Dorm Fridge holds the cold for 4 to 6 hours no problems) That 110 V Fridge gets replaced with a Coleman Ice Cube Cooler in the same general Location.. Gone for extended trips ? I have had 2 large coolers in the V Berth in front of the Head bulkhead and That Coleman Ice Cube Cooler by the Head..

We located our cooler across from the daggerboard trunk on the port berth. The mod was done this past winter along with some galley mods. We've spent a number of weekends on the boat this spring and really enjoy the modificaions. No regrets.

Hey Marc,
That's one of the nicest setups I've seen up to now...especially the fact that it's an extremely useful yet relatively simple mod. I keep my cooler behind the companionway ladder in the day and under the table at night.

Electrical outlet is behind the cooler. Wood (White Oak) support is raised to provide clearance for Starboard access cover.

My access to port storage is through an access door on the face of the port kick plate under the galley. We have 5 plastic bins lined up in the space, the forward bin has a pull cord attached, take a bin out and pull on the cord to bring the next bin within reach of the access door.

Your flooring looks great.
