HOWEVER!! Some of YOU! Regularly offer some of us.. Sexy stuff... Stuff I didn't know existed... Kevin just offered up one, to enhance searching.. What Da Heck??
Get A JOB Kevin..!!! (Your Sweetheart is tired of supporting ya..) How do you guys learn about all those neat things.. Even the Three OLD Guys on the board are regularly offering up neat stuff.. ( I will not use their names because Crickey HaminX and Sumner might take offence : )
Could we at some point have a Category for all these Geek Things?? Then Maybe at least I would have a place to go and play when its cold or dark outside..

Well, as much as I might appreciate your point of view - since working with computers *is* my job - this is, after all, a *sailing* board, Dive! Perhaps we should stick to what we do best and leave the computer tips to other boards? But you're welcome to post anything in that regard in the 'Pub' since it's the catch-all area for all non-sailing discussions.

Having said that, I'm sure my wife would agree that I'm a 'sexy computer geek', but I appreciate the compliment!

As one of the 'old guys' around here, though, I resemble that remark.

• In answer to a query regarding how to track changes here on the forum, I suggested using "Google Alerts".

  If you format your search query using Google's "SITE" keyword it will target only this website, and you can use quotes to specify specific phrases.
  
  Search query example:
  
  • "whisker poles" site:macgregorsailors.com
  Using the above format for general Google searches is also a great way to discover specific content in any websites you're interested in searching.

YEP that's the one Kevin.. I never knew that existed ...and I..... have in the past had problems with searches and sometimes following topics of interest..

Other Google search tips... (each one is clickable, so give 'em a try!)

You can delete certain words from your search by preceding them with a "-" minus sign...
(this one's for you, MacNCheese! )

• macgregor 26c -15 -17 -19 -21 -"21 Mkii" -21 -22 -"2-22" -"23 Newport" -"2-24" -25 -25 -26D -26S -26X -26M -36 -65

...and you can search using the 'or' word, to get a combination of things...

• macgregor 26C OR 26D

..and you can search for certain file types (attachments) like PDF, XLS, PPT, DOC, etc. by using the 'filetypes' filter:

• perko switch installation filetype:pdf

...and you can add an asterisk (*) when you want Google to fill in the rest of a phrase (great for searching for lyrics you forgot!)...

• the ship was the pride * american side

...and finally, to find similar words, use a tilde (~) before the word you want to find similar (in the case below you'll also get cakes, cookies, candy, ice cream, etc.)...

• sailing ~dessert recipes

Yes, I mean that Google Alerts will help you to track changes on this or any other website.

Having said that, if all you are looking for is all the new changes since you last accessed the site, you can just use this:
