Name Placement

Post by Dave U »

:macm:

Just bought a used 2004 with the blue hull. I plan on naming the boat 'Drakkar' (Norse for dragon - long ship) and am wondering where others have put boat names (the stern sure ain't going to work)? Pics and suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Most names I've seen on Macs have been on the side, near the cockpit, like this (Shown in the progress of application of the name decals).

We have our boat's name "Sunny Q" on the back of the stern seat. Not a whole lot of room but it seems to be very readable. We'll probably add it to the sides of the boat later; either towards the bow or the stern.

Duane has his Allegro too far forward. Scott's is too far back. Mark has his 'off line' about right. Be sure to center your homeport evenly on the back top of the helmseat. Measure, measure, measure.

I have a crew that comes around to inspect this stuff, so don't screw it up!

Here's mine. Note I did the homeport as well.

Rob, where did you get the stickers from? I'm getting ready to order mine for the M and I've found several sites that offer the service. I'd rather go with someone we've used successfully.

Rob,

Your graphics look outstanding. I have also been looking into graphics for my boat and would be interested to know where you got yours from. I probably can't do anything nearly as cool as that, though. Maybe I should get a longer name.....

I'm glad that you guys like our graphics. The design was a team effort between my girlfriend and myself. The printing was done by:

http://www.signmonster.com

They are local to us and did the installation also. We enjoyed working with them. They spent the time working with us to make the Carribean Amphibian look great.

Thanks all. Good pics and definitive guidance. I'll try not to screw it up. I'm new to this site and I have to say that it is a great one. Helpful hints, an occasional threat and good humor.

Hopefully see folks out on the James/lower Chesapeake in a few weeks.

Sorry Sloop. I beg to differ. My Decals are installed per Missouri state statutes. I think Duannes are more of a Regional Northwest concensus application. Down in Florida they use Magic Markers dont they?? I know they use crayons down towards the keys.

Just kidding. Mine are right where the wife wanted them and I value her opinion!

Likewise, mine is right where specified in the Admirals nautical regs.

Don't joke about the magic markers. We ordered our lettering as a red outline. After a season we decided it wasn't bold enough. Using a big sharpie I colored in the interior of the letters in black. Worked well enough, but by the end of the season it faded to a brown. We need something more permanent this year.
