What would be harder, being the one lost, or being the family not knowing. Very tragic. I hugged my wife when I read this.

Re: Island Packet Sailor Lost at Sea
As a small sailboat owner, I've dreamed many times of heading out into the deep blue, especially somewhere warm, as I'm sure many others have too.
Quite sad, and a bit alarming.

Re: Island Packet Sailor Lost at Sea
I happen to fly on the C-130J's at Elizabeth City and we flew over 30 hours looking for the lost sailor. Saturday on scene conditions were horrible and half the flight crew got sick looking for her for over 8 hours in 10-20 foot seas. My flight crew relieved them and flew another 8 hours looking, followed by a third crew the next day. I can personally say the USCG gave every possible effort to locate her, with no luck. Our hearts go out to the family.

rjhpilot91,
Thank you for your service and for trying so hard. Though I'll hopefully never be in a position to need USCG rescue, it makes me feel good to know that people like you are willing to risk YOUR LIFE to try to save someone else, who you have never met.
Thank you and Job Well Done,
Ron
