These two steps alone are what the Admiral and I have always followed to christen a new boat. Never bothered with the stuff in between. Thinking about it, some bubbly would have been nice. Just never thought about it at the time.mastreb wrote:1. Owner shall rent a slip or be launched at sea or upon fresh water, such that the rechristening occurs in Neptune's Realm. 5. "Christen" said boat.

Nice looking boat. Like new. These are great, incredibly fun boats. think twice if you ever find yourself wanting a larger boat. I bought an M but still enjoy the heck out of my 22.2

Hey Ishmael: From what you've been posting it sounds like you own three boats. I suggest you name the new 22 "ENUF"

Re: Venture 22 Brought Back To Life!
Hey Ishmael: Good question. How many cases of beer does it take to christen a boat? One is too many, two is not enough and three is just right. But who's counting?
Get cheap champagne for christening and expensive beer for celebration. As I mentioned in a previous post we taped a piece of angle iron to the bow so we'd have a sharp edge to break the bottle. My beloved wife Penny sent glass flying across the parking lot. I've heard discussions about launching on the hard. I've never seen a large ship christened in the water. They break the bottle and she slides gently down the ways. The Vikings "christened" their boats by grabbing a slave by the arms and legs and breaking his back across the bow in sacrifice to Odin. OUCH!!. Had a Honda 750 once, only bike I ever owned. Fair Winds and Full Sails....

Per Teasure Isand, bad things happened to "gentlemen of fortune" who re-named their boats.

Well, you could just leave it unnamed, since it currently has none and put the following on the sides:
N' Onam É
Just explain that it is a Native American name that means "Unknown".

According to the Old Snoop Dog MGD commercials "MGD, the Champagne of Beers"! Not a big fan of MGD but this might be your only choice

Re: Venture 22 Brought Back To Life!
Hey Old sALT. I am going to look at a 1973 Venture 25 for $1800. Comes with 8hp Evinrude. The owner says the keel bolts were replaced five years ago. Says he last sailed her April 2011 and that everything is in good shape. Since I formally owned a 26M the concept of a 500 pound keel is unique to me. What do you think about the price?
