Bob and Lynn on Syzygy (suggest Wiki for correct pronunciation). I will have a prize for anyone who can pronounce it correctly at the Charleston Sail.

We made it back to the docks Sunday afternoon after buoy hopping the inside transit. Lots of fun. We took out Monday morning and were enjoying pizza back in Isle Of Palms by 7pm.

Lynn and I (along with crew Mike and Mindy) had a great time. The NC Sail group is a fun and inviting crowd. Can't wait to get up with the group again. Lynn and I spent a good part of the trip gaming our a Charleston Sail. We'll get as thread going on this site and the NC Sail forum and see who bites.

Fair winds and following seas,
Bob

The seas were more like 2-4 ft with a small craft advisory. That is the only time ROAD Soldier seems to sail. He is like a magnet for those conditions :o

I had a GREAT TIME at the NC SAIL Pirate Sail. :D
D'Lei had a good time playing in the sand but didn't want to over do her stay on the beach like some, "Knot Shore" who that kid was. She made it home safe but in need of a fresh water bath.
Here is a link to the photos I took.

Phil, those flat seas were inside the "bight" at Cape Lookout (check it out on a map...very cool area). Big area about 330 degrees of a circle of dunes. Winds still come in good but the swells/waves are gone. Great sailing conditions. I will get my sailing videos uploaded soon and you will see how great the sailing was inside. You should have made the trip.

Outside, on the way to the bight the seas were 4' with winds about 15-20. Many of us went Genoa only. First time I have ever done that...worked great as I averaged over 5 and hit 6 frequently and 7 a couple of times (surfing down the occassional 6' wave).

Cheers,
Jim

That little thing wouldn't have made a decent appetizer. Bigger concern was did they have enough coffee... :D

Glad to hear they got them selves un-stuck and made it home.

Knot Shore beached just after High Tide Saturday around noon...

Image

Unfortunately that was the highest of high tides for a few days...

Knot Shore at Low Tide later on Saturday...

Neither the High Tide at midnight nor the high tide at noon on Sunday came high enough to refloat. But what an adventure...

Cheers,
Jim

All kidding aside, we learned a lot from his experience and really don't wish hardship on anyone. We have not paid close attention to the tides before, but will in the future.

Eirk is a great friend, good sport and a kind soul.

I am sure my turn is coming, again.

You are correct. One of the best things about other people making mistakes for anyone who is observant is to learn from them and not make them yourself.

It's funny that you mention it... I was just saying at work on TUESDAY, that I would have rather learned this lesson from someone else. And, YES, we've heard the jokes at work too. Jean :?
