Couple of shots down in the slideshow...

Liveaboards trying to ride out a direct hurricane hit.

Note that canvas is still up, furled foresail has come off...these folks were lucky to get some hard experience without loss of life.... :| :|

Yeah, A couple and their cat. They lived on it at a marina Portsmouth. Left Friday night to head to Annapolis to avoid the storm. Their motor died shortly into the trip and they anchored off the ocean view pier around 10pm. Around 6am winds were steady at 40 and gusting much higher and their anchor drug.

Glad crew are all ok. Not sure how you hope to avoid a 200 mile radius hurricane in a sailboat leaving the day it hits... :| :| :| :|

The second pic (#5) was on the front page of the Las Vegas Review Journal this morning. Thank goodness this storm lost it's intensity as it moved northward :!:

The story that won't end. This has been getting a lot of press locally since the ownner has been arrested twice and picked up by the cops a third time for public drunkeness and "defecated in the back of a police car." He was also ticked for still having it on the beach.

Over the past week he had stripped a lot of the valuable items and had them stacked up away from the boat, then friday night it was torched.

With a mind like his, you have to wonder how he did not claim the Darwin award during Irene. Pity, looked like it might have been a nice boat before the storm. Guess he will have a few years to think about his mistakes, at the tax payer expense.

Well he probably will tell you the tax payers don't have to pay for anything because the tax payers laws obviously do not apply to him, or so he thinks. During my career in the Army I knew some individuals just like this one. Thank God it was only 2 in 26 years. Unfortunately one of those two individuals I had to deal with just as I was retiring.

Unfortunately, this is only going to aid the developers and minority wealthy waterfront land owners that hate cruisers. It will be used to pass some law or ordinance that unconstitutionally restricts freedoms.

Not sure if anyone has been on a Hunter 42 but it's a darn nice boat with a huge aft cabin like a small bedroom. It's on my short list and I wonder how this clown was able to afford one.

Since he is a drunk I am willing to say he saved his money by buying cheap beer. You know Blatz, PBR, and Mickeys.
