Macgregor Math:

(5 x 26 :macm:) + (7 x 26 :macx:) + (1 x 26S) + 1 Beach + ICW + Atlantic Ocean + 2 different marinas + 2 Restaurants / 31 Macgregor Sailors = One Amazing Weekend :!:

We had 12 Macs make it to the beach and I think 7 or 8 of them were completely dry at one point.

All 13 motored down the ICW to St. Augustine and through the Bridge of Lions to the Municipal Marina ("Mac Invasion"...I like that). We were all docked right next to each other...except for Knot Shore (he drove us all crazy so we asked the marina to put him on the other pier... 8) )

31 Crew + a few visiting guests all had dinner at "Columbia" which is very nice Cuban Restaurant in old town St. Augustine.

On Sunday we departed St. Augustine and 9 of the Macs went outside for the 35+ mile downwind sail back North to the St. John's River. 4 stayed inside on the ICW.

6 of the Macs departed the group once we got back to the St. John's River and the Sisters Creek Marina. 2 of the Macs stayed at a marina in Mayport. And the remaining 5 Macs all motored another 20 miles or so into downtown Jacksonville for dinner at Chicago Pizza at the Jacksonville Landing. After dinner the 5 of us motored the 1.5 miles over to the Jacksonville City Marina to stay the night

Finally on Monday morning the group departed company.

It was an amazing weekend. It was great making all these new friends.

Stats for König: 1456 miles trailering (round trip); 127 miles motoring; 50 miles sailing; 4 nights in the boat including the first night which was at the City Marina so we could attend the Jacksonville Jaguars final pre-season game.

Pictures can be found on our Photobucket Site: Jacksonville Macgregor Get-Together 2011 (need several of the others to post their photos still)

I too have some videos but just finished getting them together last night. Hope to post them this evening.

Cheers,
Jim

Jim,
That sounds like a great trip. Count me in for next year! Until then, I've got my eye on the Pirate Sail in Beaufort, NC at the end of the month. I've been sailing around Charleston for over a year without seeing another Mac so I'm looking forward to seeing a few at Beaufort. Looking forward to some first hand accounts of the trip.

Now that I am finally back in Atlanta and have a minute to relax I can say thank you to all for making this the biggest and best JMGT to date. Your photos are great and I look forward to having a chance to view the videos.

It was really great to meet the people behind the avatars and the boats behind the legends.

Collisions at sea, flying peanuts, random mirkin references, ships running aground, last minute mast repairs, canons, Khoom-Loi, the long and arduous journey along the ICW, sailing the Atlantic (without my motor!) all proved to be no challenge for the group. Once again we survived. 13 boats with 31 crew, all safe and back in their home port.

Taking Untethered on the outside from St. Augustine to Jacksonville was a great leg. Averaging 3.5 knots (without my motor!) was challenging but worth it. According to my chart plotter my furthest distance from land was 6 miles; a new record for me.

The effort that the captains and crews put forth into making this a reality was amazing. You are truly a fine group of individuals and I look forward to sailing with you all again soon.

I wish I could make it to Pirate fest this year but it's not in the cards. BEER 2012 will most likely be the next big outing for me and whatever crew gets Shanghaied aboard Untethered.

Over the next few days I will be posting my pics to the Photobucket account Jim has created. I hope you enjoy them. Take care and stay in touch.

Look I know I act like a Pirate at times.... but was that really necessary. :? :D

I posted some more pics on photobucket.... enjoy!

Thanks for the fun trip!

Hi all! Galactica, Admiral Angie and I have made it back to Missouri. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Florida and the JMGT! I got to check off every item on my JMGT bucket list! 8) 8) 8) We continued over to the Destin area on the Gulf side, chasing the tropical storm away as we arrived. We had an awesome sail there too!

We returned to our ranch which had violent thunderstorms dropping 4 old growth trees on fences, my electric fence on one field taken out, roaming calves, lightning strike fried our DSL modem so I've got lots of work ahead of me...but who cares, we just returned from sailing our Macgregor with 12 other macs in Florida!!!! 8)

We enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing the boats! Great times! Well worth the 2500 mile trip and something anyone who can go in the future--should! Many Thanks to John and Jim!

Macs and Dolphins at sunrise at little Talbot anchorage --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyM_zgj5GXg

With no DSL, I've used my mi-fi and tablet to upload a pair of short teaser videos. I'll upload the rest of the pics and videos as soon as I get a new modem. I enjoyed looking at pics and videos already posted.

I hit sandbars twice in the ICW channel near Ft. Walton Beach where hidden 1' depth bars extended into the channel...it damaged my prop, powerthruster and lower unit case. Things happen.

We loved the trip regardess.

Got two of them un-stuck using this technique.

I feel pretty good about since it was my Might 40HP Merc Monster that was able to get two boats with 90 HP each off the beach...

That video is awesome. Great job Konig!

I just uploaded 40 or so pics to the JMGT folder. Videos are taking a while, but will be done soon.

I hope you guys have a blast at the Pirate Fest.
