There are no other sailors in my place, let alone Mac owners... Besides, I do all the work by myself, with occasional (unqualified) help only... So I need your advice.
I managed to install the boom and even the mainsail!!! ( My greatest success so far.
However, one advice to Macgregor guys, if they read here. It would be greatly appreciated, if somewhere in the manual - they would give a hint what length of rope is suitable for mainsail, for genoa, etc. I got few ropes coiled, 45 feet, 50 feet, 54 feet, and 60 feet (I quote by memory, maybe I mixed up the numbers a bit). It would save few hours of my work, if I knew it beforehand. I tried to use shortest possible rope, and many times it wasn't enough, I had to replace ropes on different halyards, etc, etc. Actually, as I didn't really do any sailing on my
But I feel stupid, not sure how to install a genoa furler, which I got with the boat. (I have the famous CDI furler, afair.) That genoa furler is coming with nice and long manual, but the manual is universal, for all kinds of boats, not specific to Mac. Looks that I need to cut the forestay, and to make it shorter by 12". Am I right? But how to do that, how to fasten the new end, so it won't get loose? Exactly 12 inch? Any help appreciated!
P.S. I don't want to cut the forestay, just to discover that I need to order a new one, from a location of 10000 miles from California!
