Sail logos - V 25

Post by Captain Bob »

Did any of the early Venture 25 sailboats use a V 25 logo on their sails?

Absolutely!! Mine is still attached. I changed my original sail # to 57806 which is required by PHRF to race in Newport Ensenada race. Usually the original sails number matches the hull number. Why do you ask?? Fair Winds and Full Sails...

A sailboat with a V 25 logo and sail number 658 has been found on the bottom of Lake Palestine south of Tyler, TX.
The mast, with the sail still set, Is sticking out of the water about two feet. The Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens who patrol the lake are attempting to locate the owner. Tomorrow divers will go down to see if there is anyone aboard, but no one has been reported missing. They will be able to get the registration number off of the hull and that should give them the name of the last registered owner. I told them it probably was a Venture MacGregor but wanted someone to confirm my suspicion. Will leave a follow-up post as to their findings. Thank you.

If this turns out to be a Venture 25 (built by MacGregor) I would really love to know how it managed to sink "IF" it had the floatation that was installed when it left the factory. Mine still has the foam.

If it sank someone probably removed the flotation. With a number that low I would guess it's somewhere between 77-78? Hope they don't find anyone aboard. Keep us posted. Fair Winds and Full Sails...
