Drain the oil and gas, remove the steering connection, control and electrical cables and use an engine hoist to lift it off the boat. Support the engine on it's side (not the cover) it you can't tie is in in place setting on the mounting bracket. We used a low small utility trailer to haul the motors.

Re: Removing a Motor - How to?
1) loosen the engine thingys that hold the engine on the transom
2) Loosen or disconnect all other connections
3) Turn the boat upsidedown

Just curious ......... can't you take the motor and boat as is to the mechanic, or are they that limited for space? Do you have other mechanics in the area that could work on it? I just can't imagine taking my outboard off to have it worked on!

Same here. I took my entire boat to the shop...was the only sailboat there amongst all the ski boats, fishing boats, pontoon boats, and cruising stink potters.mallardjusted wrote:Just curious ......... can't you take the motor and boat as is to the mechanic, or are they that limited for space? But then again I am not very mechanically inclined.
Good luck.

Remember to plug the engine bolt holes if you take it off and go sailing!
