Folding Bike
I bought a Schwinn folding bike for $200. It folds down small enough that it fits in the bow of the boat with out taking up much room. I gave it a test last week. Sailed to Lasqueti Island and biked from False Bay to Squitty Bay and back, 40km on gravel roads. It seems to have held up.
I am going to buy another one for my wife. They will both fit in the bow. The squeeze into areas that I don't really use now since the kids have gone.
They are a little "geeky" looking but they do the job. Planning on a trip to Southern Gulf Islands this spring. Should work great there on paved roads.

Re: Folding Bike
We bot Dahon single speed coaster brake folding bikes about 5 years ago. Within a year or so my wife gave her 18 speed bike to a grandchild. Within a year, I gave my 18 speed bike to another grandchild. Carmen and my only bikes since then have been the folders. We use them at home to cycle around the neighborhood and have taken them to the boat from time to time. We prefer them to the 18 speed conventional road bikes.

Every product, of course, has its weaknesses or shall we say disadvantages. For the Dahon Boardwalk bike, the limitation sets on its height. Riders taller than 5’5 may not find it convenient to ride on this certain kind of bicycle.
Foldable boardwalk bikes are perfect for individuals who are 5 feet tall.

Re: Folding Bike
About forty years ago, my father acquired a Royce Union folding bike by opening a checking account. I still have the bike, and it works well. I'm sure it is much heavier than the one's posted earlier, but it works quite well. I have put many miles on it back and forth for food shopping. I keep it folded in my garrage, right above my Phantom.

It looks like someone wants to sell a Royce Union like mine.

Every time I see a label "Made in West Germany" I get a chill of optimism about mankind.....

Hey, they made good stuff!
The week before my honeymoon, I purchased a mini tripod for my camera. 36.5 years later (as of April 19), it's still works great. Then again, so does the marriage.
