track mounted swivel cam cleats
I'm thinking of getting a pair of theses for all the right reasons.
1. KH sells them for 98$ , anyone here have a review of the KH ones
2. It seems like I should get some kind of block or shackle to lead the lines to the cam cleats, whats the best solution?
Anything else I'm missing?

Re: track mounted swivel cam cleats
Got mine from Bill @ Boats-4-Sale. They work great. Don't need any extra blocks. Tremendously simplify single-handing versus running the sheets back to the winches and then through the jam-cleats on the cabin tops.
I haven't used my winches since 2006.
I think Bill got $100 back in 2006. I presume he still sells them... I think they are slightly different from the ones at KH but I don't know the specifics.
Cheers,
Jim

Re: track mounted swivel cam cleats
I have the Gaurhauer cleats from KH, and they're one of the best investments I've ever made. Remember that the price of about $95 is for 2 cleats, not just one. We've been using it with a 150 genoa and you don't need any lead blocks. Makes sail handling so much easier, especially if you're single handling the boat. We haven't used the winches since we bought them, and haven't had any problems with winds up to about 20 knots.

I also use mine when single handing or when flying the spinnaker.
Quite easy to come to wind a bit when tightening the line so I can pull by hand and no winching needed.
Love them.

Re: track mounted swivel cam cleats
Captain Highlander,
Can you tell me what model I should buy for those track mounted cam cleats? I went on the Garhauser web site but I could not find them( I probably am not looking in the right spot). I would like to put those on my boat.
Can you help?
Thanks

Re: track mounted swivel cam cleats
Talked to Garhauer at the TO boat show about these last week - they had none at the show and said they were "sold out". A nice lady there told me to contact Mark Felgenhauer at Garhauer Marine in Upland CA - her son, which I haven't done yet. I am passively looking for these, none of the marinas in Buffalo had any all summer, and will pick a set up when I encounter them. Apparently Bill at Boats For Sail, a poster on this forum, carries these as well, modified somehow.

Bill is an advertiser here, and he lists them on his site, but I don't know what they look like or how they're different. I'm interested too, as it's annoying running the sheets to the cabin roof and winch only for the purpose of cleating them.

Slide up to the top of this page, go to the tab 'Resources', then 'Dealer Info', and Boats 4 Sail is on the left, second from the bottom, with a web site link. Near the bottom of his web page is 'B4S Parts' where you can see the listing for them.
But here it is for convenience, since I had to go there to describe the pathway.

Edit: I believe it's ok to put up such links, as he's a paid advertiser, but if I'm gone, it's because I'm wrong.

Funny thing I just noticed Bill is currently online... Let's see if i can get this posted before he does!
Here is the link to his parts webpage, you'll find the EZ-cleats as the first item. He is still selling a pair (two of these) for $100 bucks.

Thank You Captain tkansler - I will go to that web site right now - I did look under the ads and classified but I never thought to look up "resources".
