A chinese trailer sailer would never sink because the trailer would fail before the boat got to the water

It will be interesting to hear more of the story - and even more interesting when they start selling them through a dealer over here!

Anyway, we're all laughing at the "junk" we all get from China (but somehow keep buying!), but I also remember when any product that said "made in Japan" was considered junk - like those junky Toyota and Datsun cars...and now, they're on the top of the heap when it comes to quality. Don't blink, it won't take China long to figure it out either...

I used to make Osburn Wood Stoves.
we shiped a stove to China to see if they could make some of the parts cheeper for us ie. castiron gold plated doors
we didn't hear back from them.
never saw the stove again
they are probabley mass producing them, then buying our raw logs to burn

The Chinese are certainly just as skillful as anyone else and are infact far more industrious than most of us. It isnt just the junk coming out of China, it is also a lot of the big name stuff that is made there (Big name Japanese and Korean electrical goods are just about all made there now I think). Its all about the QC in the factory where the item is produced. They will keep making cheap crap as long as there is a market in the west for cheap crap.... When I was at Uni a few years back I remember a lecturer telling us that there were 30 000 doctorate degrees (we dont even have that many in our country) going back to China every month and the Chinese government would tell them three things, Invent, Invent, Invent! China is already moving from the copy phase to the inovate phase, just like Japan did in the 70s closely followed by South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore. i checked with this same company for a yamaha outboard motor as they are a manufacturer for yamaha and mercury out boards. for a 2011 yamaha 90HP four-stroke with three year factory warranty(they claimed) they wanted 3408.00 plus shipping.after several email exchanges it seemed as though this is an illegal operation as they would accept bank transfer only no credit cards.they also have no US dealer represenative.strictly shipped from factory only after funds transfer was completed.any body willing to take the gamble outthere????

We bought a Chinese made Silver Marine inflatable dinghy .
The kind with the solid transom , and slat floor.
We have used it quite a bit , in fact it spent a year in our slip , floating behind our cabin cruiser , before we bought the
The rope that came on it rotted off in record time , but the boat has been a good one .

The boat has about a 1,000 miles on it , from being towed .

It is showing no wear or sun damage .

We paid about $500.00 for it.
It is currently deflated and in its bag , because we started towing our kayaks instead ,

On the other hand , I bought a chinese made jump box (car starter) . It NEVER worked . It was never strong enough to start a car with a dead battery . The little air compressor in it was handy for a while then it quit . I guess I got what I paid for . It only cost $35.00

My Sevylor tender is perfectly good for my purposes - on its 5th year at 350 USD - 1/7 the cost of a Achilles...

What amazes me about this outfit is there doesnt seem to be a single good reference and lots of bad - and yet people still buy since " they sound good on the phone"

Hi Gypsy, I dont mean to alarm you but there is one or two issues with silver marine inflatables. They are sold by the major marine chain store here in Oz. You might want to have a read of this thread from the Aussie trailer sailer forum

I actually have a Seabo inflatable which is made by the Silver Marine people. I am not impressed at all. It has only ever been used 10 times but on our last trip, the seem blew out with my family in it. It started to deflate quickly (Although it is suppossed to have three chambers, it only actually has one!!) I only just managed to get back to the Mac with my missus holding her hand over the seem and my kids scared as hull. Just got them off and the transome started to collapse. I then just got the Merc off it and jumped onto the Mac and the whole mess started to sink. I pulled it up onto the mac with a boathook. It is sitting in my shed right now, and the pontoons seem to be coming away from the transome - That is some really crap glue they have used!

Right off topic here but the morning news show on here behind me is taking the pi$$ out of the Chinese because the footage they have provided of their new stealth fighter blowing up another plane, seems to have been lifted straight out of the Top Gun movie LOL

On topic. I googled this and poked through their website. I dont think that is a Chinese made boat. I think thats a Macgregor (made in Cali) sitting in front of their sign. Prove me wrong but its not even clean and around the ballast valve on the rear pic there is even some moss.

I read your story in another thread about your dinghy coming apart , and wondered if it might be a Silver Marine. Ours has been in both salt water and fresh water and , so far , holding together.
I have wondered why they haven't caught on , with their cheap price and (so far) dependability , at least in my case.
We use an electric motor on ours , so we didn't need a high priced dinghy just to putt around in.
